Venezuelan cream punch

Hello friends I hope you are well, in the month of December in Venezuela we have our typical food such as the hallaca, the ham bread, the pork leg and the chicken salad, but we also have a typical drink that is the cream punch, Drink is characterized by having milk, sugar, eggs and alcohol.
I remember that at home we never lacked a bottle of this tasty drink, it was mostly offered to the ladies but there was never a man missing who wanted to take cream punch.
It can be said that the Ponche Crema is a cousin of the Puerto Rican Coquito, the Mexican Rompope, the American Eggnog, among others.
Due to the price increase that is currently in Venezuela it is already impossible to buy a bottle of this much appreciated drink, but now we can make it at home and enjoy it again at our Christmas dinner.

This is the traditional bottle of our cream punch, this drink was created by Eliodoro González P., born in Guarenas in 1871, he was a chemist, perfumer, inventor of beverages, publicist before advertising, visionary all these wonders reunited in a single man and also for more Venezuelan pride.

INGREDIENTS:

  • 6 egg yolks.
  • 1 can of condensed milk.
  • 2 cups of whole milk.
  • A lemon conchita
  • ½ cup of rum.
  • Nutmeg.
  • Vanilla.
  • A glass bottle.

PREPARATION:

In a pot that does not stick, the milk is cooked at a low temperature, apart from the egg yolks, then the yolks are added to the milk, the lemon conchita, a teaspoon of vanilla and nutmeg to taste. Go stirring with a tablespoon of wood, and should always be left at low temperature to prevent the yolks from coagulating.
Wait for a while and let the temperature of the liquid drop slightly, which at this point should be somewhat thick,
Add the condensed milk, rum and mix well, if you feel that you have left with lumps, you can use the blender.
We test and verify that it has the liqueur taste we want, if you do not add more alcohol according to your taste, once ready we pack it in a glass bottle previously sterilized, cover it and store it in the fridge.

There are those who put all the ingredients in the blender but they say that this way we do not cook the eggs and raw they do damage, the recipe varies depending on each family and each state, not everyone cooks the same each person has his personal touch.

This drink is consumed with a lot of ice, I love it that way, I hope you liked this recipe and a brief history of our typical Christmas drink.

I bet it is delicious! I used to love to indulge in creamy alcoholic beverages during the holidays. Now that I am older, my stomach does not appreciate the cream anymore. Well, maybe just one little sip......🎄
