About German stollen bread recipe: a stollen is a conventional German bread made of foods grown from the ground, covered with powdered sugar. It is prevalently made and eaten amid the Christmas season when it is otherwise called 'Christstollen', this formula of German stollen bread is a simple and straightforward formula with which you can set up this at home. Raisins, cranberries, a blend of nuts alongside rum, displays a delightful bread to savor with loved ones this happy season.

Ingredients of German stollen bread:

  • 500 gms flour
  • 200 ml tepid water
  • 10 gms yeast
  • 100 gms raisins, cranberries, citrus strip (hacked), nuts
  • 30 ml rum
  • 50 gms sugar
  • 10 gms salt
  • 5 gms ground cinnamon
  • 2 eggs
  • 50 gms spread
  • 150 gms marzipan
  • 150 gms spread (softened and cooled)
  • Powder sugar (for cleaning)

The most effective method to make German stollen bread:

  1. Soak the dry natural products in rum and ground cinnamon for few days ideally multi-month.
  2. In a bowl beat sugar and spread. Include eggs and beat once more.
  3. Mix the yeast in tepid water and include flour and salt and make a batter.
  4. Mix the rum splashed nuts and dry fruits in the mixture. Additionally, include the sugar spread blend.
  5. Keep the batter aside for 15 minutes.
  6. Roll the batter into little bits and fill marzipan and wrap it.
  7. Keep the moved bread again at room temperature for 30 minutes
  8. Bake the bread in OTG at 170 degrees for approx 25 minutes.
  9. Take out the bread. Give it a chance to cool.
  10. Do brushing with margarine and sprinkle powder sugar for tidying.

Could this receipe be modified to make the dough in the bread machine and then shape and bake in a regular oven?

First time I tried this. Been a fan of Stollen since I grew up in Italy. This is a very good recipe.

I was a bit confused because, as you wrote, Stollen is everywhere here in Germany in November and December but only then. Seeing this picture was a bit as if a swallow would have appeared outside - totally out of season. But I hope a lot of people elsewhere try and make it!
