I prefer this small city featured on National Geographic's list over Jingdezhen.

Compared to Jingdezhen, I prefer this small city that made it onto National Geographic's list. Jiangxi, a low-key city, has been a frequent destination for me, and I believe its beauty is widely recognized. Instead of the bustling Jingdezhen, I prefer Shangrao. Many places in Shangrao have unique characteristics and are worth spending several days exploring leisurely.

Shangrao Three Days Four Nights Itinerary:
Day 1️⃣: Take high-speed rail to Wuyuan Station—Wunüzhou—Stay at Wunüzhou
Day 2️⃣: Wunüzhou—Huangling—Stay at Huangling
Day 3️⃣: Huangling—Shangrao Station—Wangxian Valley—Stay at Wangxian Valley
Day 4️⃣: Wangxian Valley—Gexian Village—Return from Shangrao Station

Places to Visit:
✅ Wangxian Valley
This place features pavilions perched on cliffs and a winding river. The folk-style ancient streets resemble a world of immortals and knights in a game. I suggest staying overnight; its beauty gradually unfolds at dusk.

✅ Gexian Village
Surrounded by mountains, this village is like a fairyland during the day, with thousands of carp following the boats, and at night, hundreds of lanterns illuminate the village. Dressing up in ancient costumes and wandering here gives a surreal sense of time travel.

✅ Huangling
Rated as the most beautiful village by National Geographic, Huangling is full of vibrant local life. Every corner is picturesque, with each season offering its own charm. Autumn is the most beautiful, especially at dusk.

✅ Wunüzhou
Here, you'll feel like you've traveled back to the prosperous Tang Dynasty! The astonishing fireworks display and boats weaving through the bridges create a lively atmosphere throughout the streets and alleys.

Each attraction in Shangrao is substantial and usually requires a full day. The beauty of Wangxian Valley, Wunüzhou, and Huangling is best appreciated at dusk, so I recommend staying overnight. Don't rush through two attractions in a single day. This four-day, three-night itinerary is relaxed yet covers the essence of the region.
