Song of the Day - Move Your Head by Efdemin

in #recordpool6 years ago

Today I had a little time to bask in a recent Boiler Room set from Mano Le Tough. Mano has been an artist I've had my eye on for a while now and while my tastes have skewered towards the techno side over the past few years, the fond memories I have of seeing him play in Seattle has me checking in from time to time to see what his output looks like. Lucky for me, it wasn't very long into his set when this song took hold of me.

This is the most recent release from the Berlin based Efdemin who has carved out a name for himself producing spacey techno that seems to find its way into sets all over the place due to the atmospheric nature of his work and quality of his sound design. His recent (as in about 16 hours ago of writing this) Beat The Clock studio session proves this to me. Being a fan of his since his early work on Dial and Curle, I've been happy to see him grow over the years into the headliner that he has become without ever really diverting too far from the spacious sound that made his first productions so interesting. Move Your Head has the potential to be massive this summer. A recessed kick drum pulsates along to a fast bass before some simple but moving chords rear their head. As the repetitive vocal line of Move Your Head starts to build in intensity, the entire track proceeds it's slow build until it's peak where 909 styled high hats slam into the mix taking the entire track into a full on frenzy. It's not particularly a track for home listening, but it seems brilliant on a dancefloor.

It's like a little rocketship taking off. Love it.
