Lessons from @lauralemons

She fought hard, she died strong. May she find rest in eternity. Laura Lemons is dead but she lives forever in our hearts. Six days ago, I read about the death of lovely Laura Lemons (not her real name) on several posts.

What a sad news!

She was one of Steemians. A beautiful lady she was; she was also gifted. She loved art (She could draw and paint), she loved music and she was a vegan.

A strong woman, she fought interstitial cysistis as she shared different experiences and diagnosis on steemit.

I saw her in the general room on steemit.chat but never chatted with her.

Lessons Learned

1.

Always stay in touch with depressed friends

People mentioned how they knew she had attempted to kill herself twice before the final act. Many people will question and question. A Steemian also talked about how he had tried to console her the best way he could on a particular issue but didn't know the impact of his efforts.

He had tried his best but it didn't work out as he hoped.

2.

@lauralemons posted two days before and had made up her mind without leaving signs.

I know people may say I didn't know her and shouldn't talk about her. I need to share that a successful Nigeria doctor died in the same fashion. He asked his driver to stop the SUV on Third Mainland Bridge in Lagos and jumped into the lagoon afterwards. He had sickle cell anemia.

Since his attempt in March, about 6 people have been arrested on the bridge for trying to copy his actions.

Let's try as much as possible to stay in touch with friends who have health or emotional issues. This is because we cannot presume that they'll handle it. They may not be able to handle it. Also, let's encourage and show them love.

3.

Phone calls might not be enough.

I know we can get busy most times. Notwithstanding, let's try as much as possible to get in touch physically. This simple act can be the little catalyst needed to save a life.

4.

Money isn't always the problem

For some Nigerians, money is the cause of depression. Sometimes, it is believed that depression is not a thing of the rich. Apparently, Laura wasn't poor. She wasn't very rich but money wasn't the problem. Her best friend had just died. She committed suicide too. The pain may have been too great to take that she killed herself.

From today, let's try to reach out to friends; rich or not rich. This is important.

5.

Death is a sure thing so live to the fullest.
