Pets 宠物

It is very common for people to have pets today. Dogs are perhaps the most common pets for many people. There are many reasons leading to owning pets. Perhaps, we may find people feel the need of owning pets due to the following reasons:

First, people do not have trustworthy human relationship. Quite a number of years ago, I saw a saying in an office, “The more people I meet, the more I love my cat.” Indeed, I also saw that big cat, the pet of the man working in the office. I talked to him and apparently he was very satisfied with his cat. When people experience alienation in human relationship, a pet can be a substitute for them.

Second, no one is an island and we do need some form of socialisation. Hence, having a pet can be a form of socialising with an animal instead of with other people.

Third, people like to keep pet as a hobby. As for the dog lovers, they may bring their dogs to the dog park. This is a time the dogs are in the same place and the dog lovers have the opportunity to see and perhaps talk to other dog lovers. People having the same hobby have something in common for interaction.

Certainly, it is nothing wrong to have pets. However, it can become a social problem if more people are disappointed with human relationship and use pets as their substitutes.

今天有不少人会有养宠物，而狗可能是最常见的宠物。人会基于不同的理由而要拥有宠物。也许，由于以下原因，人会需要拥有属于自己的宠物。

首先，今天许多人缺少了可信赖的人际关系。多年前，我在一间办公室看到一句话，”我遇到越多的人，我就越爱我的猫!” 的确，我也看到那只大猫，也即是那个在办公室的人之宠物。我和他谈，显然他非常满意自己的宠物猫。当一个人对人際关系有所失望时，他们可能选择宠物取代应有的人際关系。

第二，没有人是一个孤岛，我们确实需要某种形式的社交。因此，与宠物交流可以是取代社交的一个方式。

第三，人们喜欢饲養宠物作为一种个人爱好。至于爱狗者，他们可能会把自己的狗带到狗公园。当狗只在同一个地方出现的时候，爱狗人士会有机会彼此交谈，同时拥有相同爱好的人会有共同的话题。

当然，养宠物并没有错。但是，如果有更多人对人际关系感到失望而以宠物取代，它就会成为一个社会问题。
