"Young man, I command thee, Arise." Luke 7.14

05.jpg

In front of the gate of the city of Naim were two very distinct groups of people. One group was moved by the most dreadful thing that exists, which is death. The other group was led by the Prince and King of life, through Jesus the Christ. The bereaved widow followed before the coffin, behind came the friends and acquaintances. When the Lord saw the widow and mother bereaved, he had compassion on her. Deeply moved, he spoke tenderly: "Do not cry!" Only Jesus can console in this way! He who had heard the wailing cry of the solitary mother, He, who could fathom all the anguish of that woman, bowed in a comforting attitude to her, who was deeply depressed. His words are soft and delicate, powerful and promising, simple words that come from the heart. The simple words of the Savior "do not weep" reveal the most powerful force of divine consolation. What He said to the troubled widow is a testimony of His compassionate love to all who mourn. Perhaps you, right now, find yourself inconsolable and without perspective for some reason. Or maybe you will cry in your heart for an irreparable loss. Listen to the words of the Lord: "Do not weep!" Only Jesus can console in this way. Just these two simple words!
