„What does the New Testament say about homosexuality?” - An essay about why I hate all kinds of fanaticism based on a Facebook post

in #religion6 years ago

Introduction

Well, I am a person who used to avoid some topics, like politics or religion. I never wanted to start any argue on any of those, as I am not feeling confident enough about my English and knowledge to be able to discuss about that on a level of someone who is interrested (or obsessed, as you'll read below) with the topic... but this time I coulnd't stop myself. I also referred this person to materials of someone, who is much better prepared to talk about religious stuff, than me. You can find him on steemit under the name @Carrioner. He is uploading videos with English subtitles now, so you will be able to understand what he is talking about, there.
As a word of introduction, I am an asexual homoromantic boy. Well, for those who don't know what 'homoromantic' means, (I assume asexual is understandable for everyone, as it is similarly to theist - atheist || social - asocial et cetera.), I am getting attracted to the same sex (homo-) on a romantic way (-romantic). Basically, being an asexual homoromantic means, I would like to be in a relationship with a person that is the same sex as me, but I don't feel any need for the sexual act. Well, I am also not an atheist, but I do not connect the church with God...
So now, let's move to the short conversation I had with the person I called A.P. here.

Conversation

Under a post, which topic was:
„What does the New Testament say about homosexuality?”
Then, a person gives a very long answer with verses of Bible and interpretates, which I won’t paste here, as it is really long. I had to react to the A.P.’s comment under that, as this person was bothering me on other post on Facebook, too. Well, for those, who are really interrested in the topic, I can put you here some verses from the post, so you can check it out for your own curiousity:

  • Genesis 19:1-13,
  • Leviticus 18:22; 20:13
  • Romans 1:26-27
  • Corinthians 5:9,
  • Jude 1:7.
There were many other verses from John, Timotyh, Thessalonians, Revelation, Acts etc. I will not write down all of them, as it would be the 50% of the post lenght, and I don't want it to be. It is not the main topic.

A.P. :

That's just it....it's not unforgivable but repentance is necessary, there's no such thing as a "homosexual Christian". It's an oxymoron. God spoke out against it from the beginning, and also sexual sin is sin against one's own body. These bodies are for one, to be temples of the Holy Spirit. How can a body be a temple of the Holy Spirit while being defiled with what is "unnatural affection " And secondly, these bodies were bought at a very steep price. How DARE anyone go and cheapen that price that Jesus Christ paid for us? Homosexuality, contrary to popular belief, is a choice. Why would God, who created man in His own image, create someone to desire what He calls abomination? He didn't. I don't hate homosexuals, my heart breaks for them. But no one is doing them any favors by telling them that God loves them just the way they are and they don't have to change. The Bible states clearly, repent, lest you likewise perish. The Bible changes us away from our sin, we don't change the Bible so it suits our sin. If God calls it abomination it is. He cannot and does not lie. And if anyone has a problem with that then by all means have a sit-down with Him and let Him know why He is wrong and they are right, and what changes He needs to make and how He will benefit from their grand wisdom. Then watch out for falling lightning bolts

S.D. [me]:

I guess you are a specialist, a doctor who studied on this subject for 40 years, to tell if a sexuality is a choice or we are born with it.
Well, I thought that Christians are attacked in the internet from all sides, but when I see comments like this, I start to understand, why Atheists and people who believe other religions "start" attacking Christians.
Well, if you are a person who is allowed to tell, who can be a Christian and who can't be the one, then you might be a doughter of God, I guess.
In the New Testament it's also said, that God is CONSTANT. You know what it means, right? That he does NOT change.
In the Old Testament it's also said, that we as humans are here to to fulfill the will, not adding or substracting anything.
I guess you remember, what I was writing about last time, about killing people after they did some sins. :) Constant "Bible God" from "New Testament" + "Old Testament" = kill homosexuals.
Honestly I am glad, my Parents tought me to not trust people after the first contact. I'd be really a curse if I would start talking about what I think about some specific subjects with someone like You - no offence.
Yes, I am a Christian, and yes, I am attracted to the same sex. Honestly, I don't need your approve or acceptance on being who I am. And honestly, comments like this are a straight attack, not even conversation. I can beat up your argument about "homosexualism being a choice" on at least 2 scientific ways that are not based on any Atheistic researches and hypothesis. They are a real researches, which shows, that it is not a choice, and that is natural, but I am too tired to talk about it, now. If you are interrested in, check out the videos of @Carrioner on d.tube, he started to add subtitles, so you can understand what he says. I am not into talking about that to people who don't even try to listen to the other side.
Have a nice day, this time I am not going to keep the conversation more than this essay. Have a nice evening/night, depends on what's the time for you.
Sincerely,
Christian attracted to the same sex.

A.P. :

Nope but I have studied the Bible and I believe what it says...it's going to offend the flesh and that's precisely what its intent is...to offend the literal living hell out of us. Many people have a problem with that but the thing is that once that same Word cleans out the sin, it binds back up. I don't need years of fallible human "research" as man's "wisdom " is foolishness. God's wisdom is perfect, but sadly most reject it because they "loved darkness more than light", they will hold on to and cherish that sin even as it leads them to hell. I happen to have a son who is homosexual and it's because I love him like I do that I will not accept what he's doing, and no he wasn't "born gay". No one is. That's a lie from the pit of hell that people latch on to in order to justify sin. You are the only one who can make that choice. You were given the truth, what you do with it is entirely up to you. As for me, my hands are clean. The choice is yours to accept or reject Biblical truth, but eternity is a very long time to be wrong

Here I just said to this person, that I am going to use those comments in my article, and I promised I will not show a name of this person, or anything. And here I finished the conversation.

Conclusions

Well, about the conclusions, I will just tell you why I hate the fanaticism, and we will finish it, as it is really a long post, in my opinion.
Fanaticism, on both sides is not a good thing. Well, I can't imagine someone going the street and starting to scream "you live in sin! you must repent or you will go to hell! change it as in my opinion you are not going to go to heaven!"
or, the second side, abusing someone just because he believes the God. It's a personal stuff, no need to act like this. I wonder, when this war between fanatics will finish.
Me, as an evil-boy, who lives in sin, can just hope, that helping aroung 50 different people per week will make me look good enough in eyes of some Christians.

Well... the conversation says directly, why I hate fanaticism, so I am not going to repeat it again. I hope you enjoyed.
Sincerely,
S.D.
