in #religion6 years ago

Included in this article are some spriitual prayers of renewal, strength and peace to the Lord Jesus Christ to get you started in having a prayer life if you don't already have one.

But know this:

God wants you to pray to Him about what is in your heart.

God is responsive to even the shortest prayers and you don't have to have the perfect words.

The Bible teaches that you should not go on and on in your prayers about the same thing.

God hears you and He will deliver for you in the ways that are perfect for you.

Search My Heart and Renew My Soul
Lord, forgive me for the wrongs I have done, take away the stony heart out of me and give me a heart of flesh. Search my heart, oh Lord, and renew my soul and I will thank You and praise You, forevermore. In Jesus' Righteous Name Amen.

Ezekiel 11:19-21

19 And I will give them one heart, and I will put a new spirit within you; and I will take the stony heart out of their flesh, and will give them an heart of flesh:

20 That they may walk in my statutes, and keep mine ordinances, and do them: and they shall be my people, and I will be their God.

21 But as for them whose heart walketh after the heart of their detestable things and their abominations, I will recompense their way upon their own heads, saith the Lord God.

Prayer for the Peace of God in Your Heart
Dear Lord, it is my deep desire that your peace would rule in my heart. When I feel uneasy or unsettled, I want to know you are near to me. I surrender my heart to you today. Would you calm my fears, settle my spirit, and bring rest to my heart. In Jesus' Holy Name Amen.

Colossians 3:15-17

15 And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.

16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.

17 And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.

Prayer for Strength and Peace
Lord, thank you for giving me strength. On the hard days, help me to remember you are never far away. Your strength is always fighting for me--I need only to be still in your presence. Thank you for bringing peace to me. Thank you for every blessing. I want to name and remember them today, for you are always good. In Jesus' Perfect Name Amen.

Psalm 29:11

11 The Lord will give strength unto his people; the Lord will bless his people with peace.

Radical Prayer
When we pray 'Hallowed be Thy Name' big things happen.

Jesus included us as children of God when He started the Lord's prayer with 'OUR Father.'

When we don't pray we are quitting on God, but He never quits on us.

The Gospel calls us to die to self and enter a relationship with God and regular intense prayer is a big part of that relationship.

Pray radically to love radically.

To love like Christ we must pray like Christ gave us the example to pray.

To be like Christ we must pray like the example of Christ, but this does mean we must have the perfect words, but that we try.

It is easy to get caught up in doing our own will instead of God's will and how do we know God's will if we don't have a prayer life?

God our Father is our good good Father.

He is NOT our paramedic.

Develop your prayer life now before you have an emergency in your life.

Radical prayer means you know you have nothing to offer in your works, but by grace are reliant and saved, so it is we should pray to keep developing our relationship with God the Father, Jesus the Son and the Holy Spirit.

The Lord's Prayer and Seek and You Will Find
Luke 11:1-4

1 And it came to pass, that, as he was praying in a certain place, when he ceased, one of his disciples said unto him, Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples.

2 And he said unto them, When ye pray, say, Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, as in heaven, so in earth.

3 Give us day by day our daily bread.

4 And forgive us our sins; for we also forgive every one that is indebted to us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil.

Luke 11:9-13

9 And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you.

10 For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.

11 If a son shall ask bread of any of you that is a father, will he give him a stone? or if he ask a fish, will he for a fish give him a serpent?

12 Or if he shall ask an egg, will he offer him a scorpion?

13 If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?

Pray for Guidance and Learn to Pray Without Ceasing
When you practice praying you should come to a point where you are faced with a choice in your life and pray for guidance from God.

In fact, you will eventually learn to 'pray without ceasing' as Paul the Apostle taught and your prayers will include asking for guidance and thanking God for His perfect blessings in your life.

Thank God also, for His greatest gift, the gift of saving grace by the power and glory of Christ's perfect and pure sacrifice on the cross.

1 Thessalonians 5:14-18

14 Now we exhort you, brethren, warn them that are unruly, comfort the feebleminded, support the weak, be patient toward all men.

15 See that none render evil for evil unto any man; but ever follow that which is good, both among yourselves, and to all men.

16 Rejoice evermore.

17 Pray without ceasing.

18 In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.

Pray for Others
I find great comfort when I pray for guidance and I find great joy in praying for others.

If prayer hasn't been a big thing in your life, you can learn how rewarding and fulfilling it is with some practice - start small and pray for someone in your life that needs relief and comfort.

You can use the following structure if it helps you...

Adoration – tell God you love, respect and trust Him and love and appreciate His greatest gift, Jesus Christ.

Repentance – ask Jesus to forgive your evil deeds.

Thanksgiving – thank God for His Son, Jesus Christ and for your blessings.

Petition – ask God to help whoever is in need of His blessings in the way that is His will.

Since Jesus always prayed to God the Father, I wonder if it is biblical to pray to Jesus.

God the Father, Jesus the Son and the Holy Spirit are One and the Same, so yes it is a good thing to pray to Jesus...

After Jesus ascended, the apostles stunned both Jew and Roman by proclaiming Jesus as “Lord.”¹ And the apostles did the unthinkable and worshipped Jesus, even praying to him as if he was God. Stephen prayed, “Lord Jesus, receive my spirit” as he was being stoned to death (Acts 7:59).

Other believers soon joined Stephen, who even in the face of death, “never ceased for a single day…to teach and to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus (Acts 5:42). The apostles, most of whom were martyred, passed on their knowledge of Jesus to church fathers who carried on their message into the next generation.

Ignatius, a disciple of the Apostle John, wrote about Jesus’ 2nd coming, “Look for him that is above the times, him who has not times, him who is invisible”. In a letter to Polycarp he states “Jesus is God”, “God incarnate,” and to the Ephesians he writes,” … God Himself appearing in the form of a man, for the renewal of eternal life.” (Epistle of Ignatius to the Ephesians 4:13)

Clement of Rome in 96 A. D. also taught Jesus’ divinity, saying, “We ought to think of Jesus Christ as of God.” (2nd Epistle of Clement to the Corinthians 1:1)
