The Mark of the Faithful Remnant - Part 3

in #religion6 years ago

There has been a significant movement among believers in the past several decades to rediscover and reclaim that which could be called the neglected elements of the Torah………

The article I am covering was written by Daniel Botkin. According to his website he is a Bible teacher, conference speaker, author, artist and songwriter, and the Editor-in-Chief of Gates of Eden, The Botkin Bimonthly Magazine. I have learned a lot from Him over the last few years. I plan on sharing some of his work here on Steemit and I wanted to start off with one of his most recent articles called The Mark of the Faithful Remnant.

This article can be found in the magazine he puts out called “Gates of Eden, The Botkin Bimonthly” The history around the magazine is as follows: The Gates of Eden Botkin Bimonthly started as an 8-page newsletter in 1995 with articles and comics by Daniel Botkin. Over the years it has grown and is now a 36-page magazine featuring in-depth Bible studies, thought-provoking articles, and zany comics. It is not sent by email. It is printed on real paper and delivered to readers' homes. To get on the mailing list, send your snail mail address to [email protected], or to Gates of Eden, PO Box 2257, East Peoria IL 61611-0257, or phone (309) 698-9467. There is no cost to get on the mailing list if you live in the U.S. If you live outside the U.S., we request a minimum donation of $5 to cover the high cost of foreign postage.

His long standing copyright policy states that anytime his work is used that the following is noted:
Daniel Botkin has a bimonthly publication, Gates of Eden.

So basically they want people to live like Jews under the law except for having Jesus as their savior. That's unbiblical. Jesus himself proclaimed all foods were clean.

(Mark 7:18-19 NIV) "Are you so dull?" he asked. "Don't you see that nothing that enters a man from the outside can make him 'unclean'? {19} For it doesn't go into his heart but into his stomach, and then out of his body." (In saying this, Jesus declared all foods "clean.")

If you followed the actual sabbath you wouldn't be able to even drive to church. Unless the distance was about a half mile there and a half mile back.

It's just another case of people wanting to put laws on people to follow when we're under grace. The early church didn't do those things.

(Acts 15:5-20 NIV) Then some of the believers who belonged to the party of the Pharisees stood up and said, "The Gentiles must be circumcised and required to obey the law of Moses." {6} The apostles and elders met to consider this question. {7} After much discussion, Peter got up and addressed them: "Brothers, you know that some time ago God made a choice among you that the Gentiles might hear from my lips the message of the gospel and believe. {8} God, who knows the heart, showed that he accepted them by giving the Holy Spirit to them, just as he did to us. {9} He made no distinction between us and them, for he purified their hearts by faith. {10} Now then, why do you try to test God by putting on the necks of the disciples a yoke that neither we nor our fathers have been able to bear? {11} No! We believe it is through the grace of our Lord Jesus that we are saved, just as they are." {12} The whole assembly became silent as they listened to Barnabas and Paul telling about the miraculous signs and wonders God had done among the Gentiles through them. {13} When they finished, James spoke up: "Brothers, listen to me. {14} Simon has described to us how God at first showed his concern by taking from the Gentiles a people for himself. {15} The words of the prophets are in agreement with this, as it is written: {16} "'After this I will return and rebuild David's fallen tent. Its ruins I will rebuild, and I will restore it, {17} that the remnant of men may seek the Lord, and all the Gentiles who bear my name, says the Lord, who does these things' {18} that have been known for ages. {19} "It is my judgment, therefore, that we should not make it difficult for the Gentiles who are turning to God. {20} Instead we should write to them, telling them to abstain from food polluted by idols, from sexual immorality, from the meat of strangled animals and from blood.

First off thanks for leaving a comment. I know many years ago I felt the same way as you did. I was stirred in my Spirit to look in the Biblical Sabbath, I tried my best to remain faithful that it was changed from Saturday to Sunday. I however was unable to do so, not only was I able to see and provide an answer for all the points brought for the day transfer I also was unable to find an scriptures where God/Jesus transferred the day. If that was to happen there was plenty of opportunity to have this placed in the Bible but again there is no verse from either one of them. I then had to look past what I was taught growing up and look past any doctrine I had known and had to just read the Bible for what it said not for what I wanted it to say. The fact is the scriptures were there the whole time I just couldn’t see them.

Some of the scriptures I am referring to are ones like:
John 7:16 - Jesus answered, “My teaching is not my own. It comes from the one who sent me.”
John 17:17 - Sanctify them by the truth; your word is truth.
Psalm 119:142 - Your righteousness is everlasting and your law is true.
Psalm 119:151 - Yet you are near, LORD and all your commands are true.
Psalm 119:89 - Your word, LORD, is eternal; it stands firm in the heavens.
1 Peter 1:24-25 - For, “All people are like grass, and all their glory is like the flowers of the field; the grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of the Lord endures forever.” And this is the word that was preached to you.

What about sin? How does the Bible define what sin is?
1 John 3:4 – “Everyone who sins breaks the law; in fact, sin is lawlessness.”
Romans 7:7 - What shall we say, then? Is the law sinful? Certainly not! Nevertheless, I would not have known what sin was had it not been for the law.

If we are to do what Jesus did we must walk as he walked (1 John 2:6). He was the only perfect example we have in the Bible and He came to die for our sins but if the law is done away with then how do we know what sin is and what did he come to save us from? Even Jesus himself said that until Heaven and Earth disappear nothing will disappear from the Law of God until everything is accomplished! (Matthew 5:18-19) And not everything in the Bible has been accomplished yet.

There are so many more but I’ll stop with 1 John 5:2-3 - This is how we know that we love the children of God: by loving God and carrying out his commands. In fact, this is love for God: to keep his commands. And his commands are not burdensome. Jesus tells us to love God and our neighbor (Mark 12:28-31) but he didn’t come up with that on His own He is quoting Deuteronomy 6:4-5 and Leviticus 19:18.

Here is where we can agree, Jesus his Hebrew name being Yeshua which means Salvation, it is only through Him and the cross that everyone can be saved.
