RE: The Gospel of JOHN

in #reliquary6 years ago

The disciples of Jesus except Thomas saw Jesus after He had resurrected, when they told Thomas, he said this..

So the other disciples kept telling him, “We have seen the Lord!” But he said to them, “Unless I see in His hands the marks of the nails, and put my finger into the nail prints, and put my hand into His side, I will never believe.”

I know most of us must have seen it from the angle that thomas is a doubter, but I want us to see another dimension to it.

Most people's experience about Jesus is what people had told them, they have no personal experience, no wonder in the face of adversity, they falter.

A man who has an experience is never at the mercy of anyone with an argument.

Thomas didn't want a story told by others, he wanted to have his own experience, and his he got and it inspired his taking of the gospel to India.

Stop depending on hearsays, ask God for your own experience, it will take you far

@Greenewalks, though I understand the context of your submission, and do not intend to attack that. I want to say that Thomas was at extreme of the search for the sign (evidence) seen with the natural eyes. The entirety of Christianity we know is hinged on the tender of FAITH which believes yet the unseen. Today, many people are in search of the sign and sadly, even the devil can perform them. In all, we know that the "believing" supersedes the "experience"... For we walk by FAITH not by SIGHT.

Am glad you shared

Hahaha
I agree, there might be a downside to it. But experiences in this context isn't about signs, it is about an encounter with God, where God is revealed personally to you.
