Like a déjà vu : Miniplanets on Mega Drive

The first feedback on the latest Homebrew sensation Miniplanets, available recently on Sega's Megadrive, report a game strongly inspired by a Mario Galaxy. Technically, the title is quite successful visually with a representation using the mode7 technique, a small technological feat when we know that Sega's 16bits does not have tools to flatten sprites visible on the screen. The subterfuge works thanks to a special programming process that displays a cluster of sprites (64 at the totals, the display limit possible by the Megadrive) and then distributes them horizontally as well as vertically. Original, this game takes all its interest only for this small technical feat. The title is available for purchase on the PlayOnRetro website.

A sequel for Day Of Tentacle ?

Point'n Click developed by the Lucas Art studio in 1993, Day Of The Tentacle made the heyday of the PC and forever marked a part of the gaming community. It is thus more than 25 years after the arrival of this masterpiece, that a team of amateur developers, native of Germany, have developed a suite taking again the graphic charter as well as the characteristic humour of the original episode. The Switch gets a Darius compilation

A series of shmups marking the golden age of the Taito studio, Darius returns once again this time to Nintendo's latest addition. Named Darius Cozmic Collection, the title will be released in physical version and will include no less than nine versions available :

• Darius Gaiden (Arcade)
• Darius Twin (Super Famicom) - special edition only
• Darius Force (Super Famicom) - special edition only
• Sagaia (Sega Master System) - special edition only

Already available in pre-order on the PlayAsia website, the compilation will be delivered in two different versions. A classic version for the modest sum of 40€ and the traditional limited edition collector, including an OST CD, an artbook and an acrylic figurine, for the equivalent of 130€. You might as well say that for the latter, you really have to be a fan to pay so much money!
