Music lovers in Indonesia must know Mbah Surip. He was a very unique singer of reggae music. Listening to his songs will make us happy. His real name is Urip Achmad Rijanto born on May 6th, 1957 in Mojokerto, East Java, Indonesia. He was very popular with the song "Tak Gendong" in 2003. There were many people know the lyrics of this song. It was not only adults the lyrics of the song can be sung by many children in Indonesia as well.
Mbah Surip is a humble one who has a good sense of humor. His style is eccentric because of his long dreadlocks, and he always carried an old guitar everywhere he got to go.
"Tak Gendong" was one of the most famous songs from Mbah Surip. The Reggae tunes in this song were very clear. He became well-known to many people because of "Tak Gendong" was used as a Ringtones for mobile phone users in Indonesia. Then Mbah Surip was invited by all national and private televisions.
Mbah Surip died on Tuesday, August 4th, 2009, at 10:30 Indonesian Western Time.

Para pecinta musik di Indonesia pasti mengenal Mbah Surip. Dia adalah penyanyi bergenre musik reggae yang sangat unik. Mendengar lagu-lagunya akan membuat hati gembira. Nama aslinya adalah Urip Achmad Rijanto dilahirkan pada Tanggal 06 Mei 1957 di Mojokerto, Jawa Timur, Indonesia. Dia sangat populer dengan lagu 'Tak Gendong" pada Tahun 2003. Banyak orang tahu lirik lagu ini. Tidak hanya orang dewasa saja, namun juga lirik lagu tersebut bisa dinyanyikan oleh banyak anak-anak di Indonesia.
Mbah Surip adalah orang yang sederhana yang memiliki selera humor tinggi. Gayanya nyentrik karena rambut panjang gimbalnya, dan dia selalu membawa sebuah gitar tua kemana-mana.
"Tak Gendong" adalah salah satu lagu yang paling terkenal dari Mbah Surip. Warna Reggae dalam lagu ini sangat kental. Mbah Surip semakin dikenal banyak orang karena lagu "Tak Gendong" banyak dipakai sebagai Nada Dering pengguna telepon genggam di Indonesia. Mbah Surip tampil di semua Televisi baik nasional maupun swasta.
Mbah Surip meninggal dunia pada Hari Selasa Tanggal 4 Agustus 2009 Jam 10:30 WIB.
