The goofiest Arrowverse show returns with an amazing premiere. Considering how much I dislike the series, I was pleasantly surprised at the episode's enthralling storytelling and pace. Yes, it was still as goofy as ever, but it definitely wasn't cringy.

The episode begins with the Legends finally putting right the last of the anachronisms that plagued them so much last season. In fact, they've fixed so many anachronisms that they've grown quite expert at it. So much that, to Sara's dismay, it's become boring to her team --the Legends are used to extreme life-threatening situations and since they defeated Mallus, everything has been quite calm.

Accordingly, Sara is the only one relieved that nothing has turned up regarding Constantine's dire announcement that a hoard of magical creatures have been set loose. And when she is curtly and coldly summoned by her lover Ava to the Bureau's headquaters in Washington 2018, she immediately believes the Time bureau has found out about it, presumably informed by Agent Gary who was with Constantine for a while. However, it turns out much the opposite. The Time Bureau had actually prepared a surprise party to celebrate the Legends... Something that has never been done before.

With nothing to do, Sara blissfully spends the night with Ava. Blissfully, that is, until John Constantine comes to confront her about the magical creatures, bringing with him a set of bones to 'detect' their presense and activity. She tracks down a minor disturbance in time to the hippie convention at Woodstock in 1938 and sneaks away alone to investigate using Gary's time piece.

Mick and Nate decide to do a heist just for the fun of it, but Nate leads him to his parent's house instead. They, of course, have no idea he's a Superhero and Legend, and his father keeps true to form, ridiculing him for his choice of profession. While there, he discovers that the Woodstock convention was now being called the Woodstock massacre, and takes Mick along to investigate.

When Ray discovers a Time Bureau time piece had been used to travel to 1938, he decides to take the jump ship and follow sneakily, in order to find out if Nora Darhk had been found. Zari goes with him to provide support, and back up in case the magical psycho tried to kill him.

The Legends all meet at Woodstock, surprising themselves. And they do find the source of the time-variation when a Unicorn gallops out into the convention with beautiful swatches of color flowing from its mane. And begins to gore hippies and eat out their hearts.

Sara rushes to fetch Constantine at once, admitting he'd been right. He follows her back to Woodstock and with the help of the legends, prepares a potion to send the Inicorn back into Hell. As the potion also requires a virgin bait, he goes back to 2018 to fetch the only one he knows: Gary.

The potion and incantation works though Gary's nipple is bitten off in the process. The Legends sneak back to 2018, but when Sara tries to tell Ava the truth, she reveals she already knew.

Constantine is offered a place with the Legends but he refuses. However, back in his own home, he is attacked by an invisible creature which scribbles 'I'm coming for you Johnny' on his bathroom mirror...

What did you think of the episode? Will the season be an exciting one? Let's know in the comments!

I'm also pretty sure we haven't heard the last of Gary's lost nipple!
