Captain Marvel (2019) | Review

Captain Marvel is just another superhero movie. Ok, it has a super-heroin in the lead role, and it insists on this with some replies worthy for beginners, but it has nothing else to motivate his existence.

Maybe just a new episode of The Avengers is approaching, and somehow the audience has to get acquainted with a new character.

Marvel tick the 21st Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) movie. It's normal that after 11 years and so many movies it's hard to bring anything new or impressive. It is only a few months before the release of The Avengers: End Game, so I guess you're not that motivated to create the most spectacular Marvel movie.

Captain Marvel not only does not stand out, but he's damn boring, and Brie Larson's interpretation is devoid of any substance in my opinion.

Captain Marvel (Brie Larson) initially has a fairly simple name: Vers, and fights the planet of an extraterrestrial race - Kree - into an organization called Starforce. Vers has a more unusual power: it can launch very powerful energy rays only with bare hands. The one who helps keep his energy behind is Yon-Rogg (Jude Law).

And these kings are in war with another alien race: Skrull. Skrulls have the power to change their appearance and disguise themselves in anything. (We've seen this already in some SF movies, right?)

After a conflict, Vers comes to the planet C-53, which turns out to be the Earth. And the time seems to be somewhere in the mid-90s.

However, from this moment on, the movie becomes a bit less boring, because Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) and a Goose go on stage.

But, unfortunately, screenwriters Anna Boden, Ryan Fleck and Geneva Robertson-Dworet are stubborn to keep their focus on Captain Marvel. Goose would have been a more interesting character.
