Beware the SteemFest scammers

This is my first time attending SteemFest but it is my second whilst on the platform. There is going to likely be a lot of SteemFest posts flying around with all kinds of information, updates, travel experiences and the like. There are going to be tags and location updates also. It is a great time to find out a lot of stuff even if you are not attending and last year I watched several of the live presentation feeds.

However...

Being Steem, there are always people looking for any opportunity to swindle a little more from the good-natured public and SteemFest time is no different. Last year there were people;

• Claiming to be alts of people that are at SteemFest
• There were people posting pictures from airplaces they weren't at
• There were pictures of people "travelling" to SteemFest who weren't going
• There were FUD posts and general nonsense

This is the internet, people try to take advantage of others all the time so don't just blindly vote on random SteemFest posts unless you know that they are there. Don't autovote SteemFest tags because many won't go to where you think they will.

Also, @lordvader, did you get the dates right this year or did your son screw up again? Ask Vera to double check.

It is a bit disappointing to see this kind of behavior but it is to be expected so, expect it. There are people I know who have made monumental efforts to get to SteemFest this year and worked their asses off for months so, try to support them if you can, give them a follow, a vote or a nice comment in support because it is likely that they are planning on staying here long term and, likely they are going to keep working on and for Steem.
