THE LIFE OF LONG DISTANT DRIVERS IN EAST AFRICA.

East African region is a part of Africa made of about 10 countries.
I the author I am from Rwanda one these ten countries.
The products entering Rwanda come from Mombasa port (Kenya) and Dar es salaam (Tanzania).
Rwanda as a landlocked country, the common mean of transporting the imports and exports is road transport followed by Air transport and the limited one is Water transport, no Railway transport.

Talking on the common mean of transport (Road transport), these goods are carried by big trucks that spent days and nights going or from the above mentioned ports.

The drivers of these trucks spend sometime with out living with their families but sitting of the truck engines rolling uphill and downhills of East Africa.
Because it is not easy to get affordable restaurants and hotels to stay for a night, these trucks are constructed as their second home. They go with water, mattresses, saucepans.... actually every thing that is needed at home.

In order to make my article correctly, I moved to one of their two parking sites, one at Rugende while about entering the city of Kigali and another one at MAGERWA where they land for parkings.
At Rugende I found the drivers and co- preparing the foods and they allowed me to take some photos of what they showed me. I found that they go with saucepans, plates, foods to cook, mattresses and you find there mosquito nets to prevent themselves from malaria suffering.

Because of the nights they travel, at night they cover the truck windows with a mosquito net.

They even take their prayers at the truck sides
