On August 10, two students, Riyadh and Nishan, were produced before the court and appealed for seven days remand for the investigation to uncover the mystery of the incident. On that day, the police told the court that on Thursday, Saiddul was kidnapped and arrested in the South-East corner of the Department of Commerce, in a kidnapping of Jagannath University and demanded a ransom of Tk 10 lakh from Shahedul owner Raushan Parvez. The accused then gave the developer number to the plaintiff. Both of them were arrested from Nasir Uddin Sardar Lake on the basis of that number. The court granted two-day remand in the wake of the police petition.

On 12 August, Riyadh and Nishan were produced before the court and appealed to the police to record their confessional statements. On that day, the police told the court that Shahidul, the victim's shop employee, kidnapped Khalid Hasan, a student of the 9th batch of Public Administration Department, and took him inside the university. Manjur Ahmed Milon, 8th batch of English university student, Mobarak Hossain, 22, of the 10th batch finance department, Akash (22) of the 10th batch mathematics division and Saurav (21) of the 12th batch of Botany Department was involved as a associate of this incident.
Kotwali Police Station Officer-in-Charge ABM Moshiur Rahman said in the first light that two people have been arrested for the alleged involvement in kidnapping and extortion.

Jagannath University Proctor Noor Mohammad said in the first light that police have been told that two students have been arrested on charges of kidnapping a person. However, no two students, their names-identity was not informed by the police.

Proctor Nur Mohammad said that the university authorities will take administrative action against the guilty students in this regard.
