Episode 19: Exploring THE BATHS & Testing Our ROCNA ANCHOR

in #sailing5 years ago

We continue to explore the British Virgin Islands on a sailboat starting with The Baths. The Baths are a geological marvel on Virgin Gorda in the British Virgin Islands and are located in a National Park south of Spanish Town.

The large granite boulders covering the island and extending miles underground are stunning and the little hiking trails wound between them makes it worth the visit. A short hop away from Road Town on Tortola, we were convinced after only a couple of hours that this was a must see.

We also get a chance to test out our new Rocna anchor that we bought for our boat. Related to the vulcan anchor, these anchors have the reputation for incredible holding power and are extremely popular in the marine and sailing world. We followed the sizing guide for this anchor made in Canada and did not even need to contact to Rocna for any further information.

We got the anchor from Puerto Rico and you get to see us drop it and dive on it for the first time to see if it really lives up to its reputation.

HINT: We would never use another anchor after using our rock solid Rocna as part of our ground tackle setup!

Last but certainly not least, we get invited to try one of the restaurants on Tortola to celebrate a VERY special occasion. The Brandywine Estate Restaurant was nothing but spectacular with outdoor seating/open air seating over looking the Caribbean Sea surrounding the British Virgin Islands we could not have been happier. There was parking available but as cruisers sailing in the BVI's we did not need it because the Brandywine Bay anchorage was spectacular - we spent three days there - so it was a quick walk to amazing seafood, excellent cocktails and wonderful places worth stopping by in your travels.

It was a brilliant week and we hope that you enjoy watching it!

Absolutely great video. Superb quality, the underwater scenes are worth watching to spend some time to. And huge boulders and narrow space in between those boulders making it small pond like area makes a really a loving place that anyone may wishes to make a trip for.

I don't really watches videos, but now a days I gets across many videos from steemiens in my feed..slowly I am trying to spend some time to make sure I wont miss those great places that I may never been able to see in real life being in a far away place. SO I really enjoyed yours...

Thank you...Cheers

Thank you so much for the comment! We definitely agree that the Baths are totally worth a trip. I'm glad that Steem has gotten you more into video watching. We aim to make ours the ones you are glad you watched, not the ones where you look up and go 'that was a waste of an hour'.... glad it was the former for you!

Plus there is a new one just posted today :)

It was true regarding the video, The other day I happened to watch another video which really looked like a movie. That was in a glacier. So here your video was too great. Looking forward to more...

I really love catching up with your videos and you never disappoint. Really happy to see you guys popping off to the restaurant for a rare treat. Need to try the Tuna tartar as I have never had it before.

We look forward to reading your comments on our videos each time we post! Thank you for following the journey. And we highly recommend tuna tartare, but make sure it is a very reputable restaurant as you want the best impression possible for your first one!! Where do you live - perhaps if it is Australia or Canada I can make a recommendation of some favourite places nearby!!
