In one or two months when the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) enters the body, most people experience flu-like symptoms known as acute retroviral syndrome (ARS). But sometimes HIV does not appear for years or even a decade.

"In the early stages of HIV infection, the most common symptoms do not exist," said Michael Horberg, MD, HIV-AIDS director for Kaiser Permanente, in Oakland, California. These are the signs when someone is infected with HIV.

1.Fever

The initial symptoms that usually appear is a mild fever with a temperature of about 38 degrees Celsius. Often accompanied by other symptoms that are also less perceived such as fatigue, swollen lymph nodes, and sore throat. This happens because of an inflammatory reaction by the immune system.

"At this point the virus moves into the bloodstream and starts replicating in large quantities," says Carlos Malvestutto, MD, infectious disease and immunology instructor in the department of medicine at NYU School of Medicine in New York City.

2.sprue

People affected by HIV also often experience recurrent symptoms as described by drg Rahmi Amtha, MDS, SpPM, PhD, Chairman of the Indonesian Association of Mouth Diseases some time ago.

"Anemic people are usually very easy to get canker sores, people with low HIV system are in need of sprue, so if you go back and forth, you go back in the blood check," he said.

3.fatigue

The inflammatory response generated by the immune system can cause you to feel tired and listless. Fatigue may be the first sign of HIV.

Ron, 54, a public relations executive in the Midwest, is starting to worry about his health when he suddenly stops. Though he is a person who tends to move actively.

"Everything I do, makes me out of breath," he said, which was positive for HIV.

4.Herpes

Oral herpes and genital herpes may be a sign of ARS and end-stage HIV infection. Keep in mind, has herpes can also be a risk factor for contracting HIV. This is because genital herpes can cause ulcers that make it easier for HIV to enter the body during sex.

People who have HIV tend to have more severe and more frequent genital herpes because HIV weakens the immune system.

5.Sore throat and headache

Sore throats and headaches are often recognized as ARS as well, says Dr. Horberg. Therefore, when you are classified as people who have a high risk of HIV, it is better to conduct further tests.

In addition, similar gejela-similar to other diseases such as pain in the joints and muscles and swollen lymph nodes also occur.

Lymph nodes are part of the immune system and are prone to inflammation when there is infection. The gland is in the armpits, groin, and neck.
