Why the dogs live among Men
Once upon a time, the dogs and jackals were best of friends. They hunt together in the bushes
. Most of their hunts were successful and they had lot of flesh to feed on. The dog soon grew interest in the animals bones that he feels discomfort not getting any especially when the hunt for the day was collected by animals whose bones were soft.
Few years later, the entire forest was hunted , they had to keep travelling from forest to forest to look for their daily meal. Also most animals had to seek for hiding.
One day,the dog and jackal did not catch any meat, the dog was saddened.
"Let's go home, probably by tomorrow we shall have enough to it" the jackal said
"Am hungry, i haven't gotten any bones for today" the dog replied
"Let's go deeper into the forest, maybe we can see carcass of animals to which you can get some bones" the jackal advice.
Few miles after their walk, the dog saw a hunter's hut in the middle of the forest and smoke puffing from a small kitchen by the side of his hut.
"That's a hunter's hut, I can get some bones there" the dog Said.
"You might get killed" the jackal told the dog
The dog almost got discouraged until the appetite for bones pressed on him.
"I will go, and if you don't see me coming after a long time, make the noise "boa, boo" the dog told the jackal and the dog advanced toward the hunter's hut.
To the dog's astonishment, he saw lots of food in the hunter's hut and many bones thrown away. As the dog walk toward the bones . He noticed the hunter standing.
"Uhmm, mm, good evening" the dog Said
"What do you want here" the hunter asked
"Am cold , and I decided to come get some warm from the fire" the dog replied.
"Alright, when you are warm, you can go back to the bush" the hunter said
"I will" the dog replied
And the dog started eating from the bones he saw thrown around. Few minutes later, the hunter came back
"Are you not warm yet" he asked
"No , not yet" the dog replied
Few minutes later, the hunter return again
"Are you not warm yet" he asked
"I am , but please can I stay with you. I always get cold and I do like some warm like this. In return I will help you hunt and always get you some bush meat." The dog requested
"Alright , you can stay" the hunter agreed.
After , a long time, the jackal still didn't see the dog coming and he started making the sound
"Boa boo" Boa boo" "Boa boo" Boa boo" "Boa boo" Boa boo"
When you hear the jackal making those sounds, he is still calling on his friend, the dog which never returned
And since that day, the jackal was hunting alone.
