Sarri-ball

Sarri-ball has come to London and Chelsea, and yes, I'm quite excited!

Conte, who claimed the Premier League title and an FA Cup in his two seasons at the club got sacked at July 13 after the whole summer of whispers that he won't be Chelsea manager when the new season is about to start. I don't really know what I should think about this. I really liked Conte and the way he revolutionized English football with his 3-5-2 (3-4-3) when he took over after Mr. Mourinho. Chelsea played really good (at least defensively) in the 16/17 season and took an unexpected title. I will never forget his passion on the sideline and all goal celebrations, he's a real winner and will for sure win more titles in the future. Thank you Conte.

Somewhere and somehow something got wrong between Conte and the club hierarchy. They had different opinions on transfers and I also think he lost some of the dressing room with the "Costa-saga" and by putting David Luiz in the fridge. As a supporter you really would like the Club to choose a manger and support him and believe in him for more than 2 or 3 years. But this is Abramovich's Chelsea: You could talk of Chelsea’s 10 different managers in the Roman Abramovich era and that they don’t have a long term idea. But fact is that Chelsea now are the most successful PL club since Roman bought them:

League - 5 ( 2004–05, 2005–06, 2009–10, 2014–15, 2016–17)
FA cup - 5 ( 2006–07, 2008–09, 2009–10, 2011–12, 2017-18)
League cup - 3 (2004–05, 2006–07, 2014–15)
Champions League - 1 (2011–12)
Europa League - 1 (2012–13)

Major trophies won - 6
Cups - 9

Trophies though doesn’t mean there hasn't been ups and downs along the way and the football that has been played hasn’t always been the sexiest. Of course you can do like City did last year and and both play attractive football and win but always that isn’t possible. And in the end, if you have to choose between winning ugly or losing brilliantly I now what most would choose.

Though I have the feeling Mr Abramovich isn’t fully satisfied before his team win something major playing brilliantly. Now he has his man, who hopefully could do both. In his first press conference Mr. Sarri talked about the importance of players having “fun” on the pitch, quite different from “hard work” that has been used a few times under our previous manager.

Everything sounds perfect but I also very aware of that there could be dark clouds i the horizon. “Funny football” and “winning trophies” isn’t always synonyms. But until we have something to judge I will live in the illusion that Chelsea again will be a title-winning team playing funny football.

Tomorrow there could be one more trophy!
