His gifts they wouldn't appreciate
Murmuring, complaining, wanting things in haste
Leader wouldn't come down. So, a golden calf
Men bringing their goods, women donating scalf
That day, the wrath of God they taste.

Stiff necked people, never learning from the past
Moses on the mountain, hungered, he thirst
The ten commandments, the law of God
Wouldn't man for once accept Him as his Lord
Or to hell, where it will be his last.

Today, still the same, adulterous generation
Looking for a Father through veneration
Sacrifice, burnt offerings, He wouldn't take
Broken and contrite spirit, living alone for His sake
That in us He may wrought the power of His salvation.

We never know the truth of us
He has delegated His power to us
To trample upon snakes and scorpions
But we threw away, hide it in our loins
The solution is to embrace the cross.
