A Victorious Christian Mother And Her Legacy

in #sc-v6 years ago

The Legacy of a Victorious Christian Mother will always be a beautiful heritage for society, but emphatically, a beautiful inheritance for the Lord.

Modern life has distorted today the role of mother and the concept of motherhood, the victorious mother is one who has a great job, and takes her children more than they need, but does not take care of them, their Christian Formation.

But motherhood according to the Bible is first to beget children for the glory of God and to educate them to love and follow God in their lives, to make sure that when their children are no longer there they will not turn away from God's way. the true inheritance that a mother can leave to a child, to the whole society.

2 Timothy 1: 5 bringing to mind the unfeigned faith that is in you, which lived first in your grandmother Loida, and in your mother Eunice, and I am sure that in you too.

The legacy of a victorious Christian mother, is remembered and always animates, is the visible fruit of her work in her family, in her children, that leaves a testimony that is never forgotten, and that serves as a motivation for the new generations.

The grandmother and mother were gone, but the memory of her testimony continued to encourage Timothy and Paul to recall this memory.

Faith resided in them, had lived in them, lived in them and they lived by faith, they were never ashamed of the gospel, nor denied their faith, as the Scripture says

Romans 1: 16-17 For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. For in the gospel the righteousness of God is revealed by faith and for faith, as it is written: But the just shall live by faith.

The gospel is the power of God for salvation, and our children were not born being saved, they were not born with faith, they were born with the adamic nature and therefore there is an urgent need to communicate the gospel,

To bring them closer to Christ, through the Word and the testimony of a transformed life, a victorious life that does not give in to the ravages of life, in the face of the pressures of the world.

There are times when you will be sick, and it will seem that God is not with you, and you will live accusations of those who see you, but still do not be ashamed of the gospel.

There are other occasions when you will be in economic difficulties or of many types, but even in them, do not be ashamed of the gospel.

The faith in God, the belief in God, the belief in God, the conviction in the Word, was the testimony of these women, and it was the legacy that they left

The times in which they lived were glorious but extremely difficult times, persecutions and martyrdoms against Christians were frequent, but their faith made them remain

And you mothers who are looking for the presence of the Lord every day, are being a good legacy for their children, by showing their love for God through perseverance, service to the work and not to leave to congregate as some and some have for habit.

A victorious Christian mother has a faith that encourages, and it is a faith that has to be passed on from generation to generation.

There is a teaching to be transmitted "the gospel",

A task to carry out "making disciples", and that begins in the house. We have been made a deposit in our life "the gospel" and this we have to invest in the lives of our children so that they may come alive in them and earn interests "an abundant life"

2 Timothy 1: 13-14 Keep the form of the healthy words that you heard from me, in the faith and love that is in Christ Jesus. Keep the good deposit by the Holy Spirit who dwells in us.

  1. Witness to our children who God is, how we should love and obey Him, so that they know Him and reverential fear floods their hearts

Deuteronomy 6: 6-9 And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart; and you shall teach them to your children, and you shall speak of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise up.

And you shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes; and you shall write them on the posts of your house, and on your gates.

From this text we can identify how a Christian mother left a legacy of love for God in her children:

We must learn to listen to teach our children to listen.
To hear "shama" is to hear intelligently, Basically this verb means "to listen" with the ears.

Today and always there have been many voices that oppose us to listen to the voice of God, the very attractive voices of the world, the disbelief fostered by satan in addition to our own rebellion.

b. You have to learn to "love" to teach love,
Someone could say "they never taught me to love, to give an arm, to kiss, to say I love you" but God not only told us but also showed through the sacrifice of his Son as our substitute,

And understand that there is a much greater love than all the lawful loves of this world and it is the "Love of God" necessary to have life and abundant life, insofar as we teach them to love God to that extent they will be obedient.

c. Repetition is a teaching method, take every opportunity to talk about the wonders of God about your life, how God has had mercy on you by giving you a new life, You have to teach them to read, to understand and meditate on the reading of the Word. The big debt that will grow bigger every day is that the congregation does not read, does not interpret, does not reflect and this is dangerous, so the home is a good opportunity to start doing it, to have the verse of the week, and to write it and meditate together on it, let's start there.

This will lead them to learn to trust in God. Psalm 78: 7-8 So that they may place their trust in God, and do not forget the works of God; Let them keep his commandments, and be not like their fathers, a stubborn and rebellious generation; Generation that did not dispose his heart, Nor was his spirit faithful to God.

F. We must teach our children to be involved in obedience and service.
John 14:15 If you love me, keep my commandments.

As Howard Hendriksen says in his book "Teaching to change lives" Young Christians know the phraseology of the Christian life but they are not experiencing it. When evaluated in the areas of values, morals and behavior indicate a striking similarity between Christian and non-Christian boys.

The only big difference is the verbal one. Christians respond "no" when asked if they would lie or cheat or steal or lie down with someone, while non-Christian boys say: "Of course, if it's for my benefit." But at the current level of behavior, there is essentially no difference.

g) There is an inheritance that we must leave behind.

Psalm 127: 3 Behold, the children are the heritage of the Lord; Thing of esteem the fruit of the belly.

There are so many questions. What legacy is the psalmist talking about? and second, what inheritance are we leaving to Jehovah?

It will be solely of a material inheritance, leave houses, cars, properties, bank accounts, or debts, or it will be, something greater than that,

Am I forming the character of God's servants in my children? Or am I only forming children that are great in the world and for the world?

Am I dedicating all my energies, my resources, all I can to form great professionals in them, but no servants, no commitment to the church, because there are more important things and that will be later?

The inheritance that we are leaving Glorify or not glorify God? Because there are inheritances that are a blessing and there are others that generate divisions, hatred, death.

The legacy of a Christian mother is seen in the Christian character of the children
It has never been easy to be a mother, but it is not an impossible task, and among her many responsibilities is the demand to form Christian character in our children.

Acts 16: 1-3 Then he came to Derbe and Lystra; and behold, there was a certain disciple there named Timothy, the son of a Jewish woman who was a believer, but of a Greek father; and the brothers who were in Lystra and Iconium gave a good testimony of him.

Paul wanted him to go with him; and taking him, he circumcised him because of the Jews who were in those places; because everyone knew that his father was Greek.

Timothy's father was Greek, in other words pagan; Eunice was Jewish, and Christian, the environment was not the most conducive to raising her son in the Christian faith,

Probably in our day that difference of beliefs would entail the following situations:

The mom wanted to take him to church but dad to the stadium, she wanted to take him to discipleship but he wanted to take him to the movies, she wanted her son to be decent but her dad wanted her to be indecent, one light and the other darkness,

Then it seems that the thing is difficult, but also the children learn from what they see and can be influenced by the good Christian testimony, let's reflect on the following verses.

John 1: 5 The light in the darkness shines, and the darkness does not prevail against it.

Matthew 5: 13-14 You are the salt of the earth; But if the salt vanishes, with what will it be salted? It is no longer good for anything, but to be cast out and trampled by men. You are the light of the world; a city set on a hill can not be hidden.

1 Corinthians 7: 13-14 And if a woman has a husband who is not a believer, and he consents to live with her, do not abandon him. For the unbelieving husband is sanctified in the woman, and the unbelieving woman in the husband; otherwise your children would be unclean, whereas now they are holy.

The word "sanctify" means to make a person or thing the opposite of common .

The one who is a Christian must sanctify the one who is not. It is not the other way around, that the unsaved will affect the sanctity of the believer.

May they see in you the wonderful work of Christ, Christian love, the joy of the sanctified life and compassion towards them.

May it be the Christian testimony that allows your parents, children, spouse, brothers and sisters to learn about your faith in Jesus, and make sure they see in you the love, help and joy of Christ.

Proclaim the Word, pray, and wait on God, his mercy has always helped and will continue to help, especially those mothers who fight in marriages opposed to the Christian faith.
