DO NOT FORGET GOD

A great reality is that as human beings in the end, we all have internal struggles, and these internal struggles often cause us to turn away from the will of God. I say this because we all fight continuously with our emotions, feelings, impulses, desires, and ambitions.

With this I am not saying that all these feelings or desires are bad, but if there are many of them that are inspired, or machinated by evil. And it is for that reason that often many of us find ourselves fighting against what we well know that displeases God, and that we sometimes surprise ourselves that we have done it. Now let's ask ourselves: is there a reason why, wanting to do good sometimes, we do not?

The reality of everything is that there is not only one reason, but there are a number of reasons why sometimes we want to do good things we do not do it; In other words, we lack God.

For example, there are social pressures; that is, the pressure exerted by our friends and colleagues in our lives. There are family pressures; that is, the pressure exerted by our loved ones, children, daughters, husbands, wives and others.

There are the pressures of life itself; that is, the pressures that certain circumstances and situations produce in our lives when they arise. In other words, we are all affected in one way or another by the pressure that this world exerts in our lives.

But despite the fact that not everything that influences us is inspired or engineered by evil, often if we are affected by evil due to a main reason. What is the main reason? This will be our theme today; let's now turn to the word of God.

Deuteronomy 8: 11-20 - Take care not to forget the LORD your God, to keep his commandments, his decrees and his statutes that I command you today; 12 does not happen to eat and are satisfied, build fine houses and settle down, 13 and when your herds and flocks multiply, and silver and gold is multiplied, and all you have is multiplied; 14 and let your heart be proud, and forget the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage; 15 who made you walk through a great and dreadful desert, full of burning serpents, and scorpions, and thirsty, where there was no water, and he drew water from the rock of flint; 16 who fed you with manna in the wilderness, food that your fathers had not known, afflicting you and testing you, in the end to do you good; 17 and say in your heart: My power and the strength of my hand have brought me this wealth. 18 But remember the LORD your God, for he gives you the power to do the riches, in order to confirm his covenant which he swore to your fathers, as in this day. 19 But if you forget the LORD your God and go after other gods, and serve them and bow down to them, I affirm it today against you, that you will surely perish. 20 As the nations that the LORD will destroy before you, you will perish, because you have not listened to the voice of the LORD your God.

As I usually say, to have a better understanding of the message that God has for us today, we will need to make a brief history review. These verses are part of one of the three sermons that Moses presented to the people of Israel before they crossed the Jordan to enter the Promised Land.

I'm sure we can all remember being in search of something, completely lost without direction or purpose, thirsty for something, but we did not know what. We tried all the solutions at our disposal trying to get out of that suffering, but nothing worked. We wandered without direction or direction through that arid and disconsolate desert laden with problems, worries, and sufferings. But all this was until the day when we finally surrendered to the will of God, and accepted Jesus as our personal King and Savior.
