NEED OF OUR FATHER

“She answered and said: Yes, Lord; but even the dogs, under the table, eat from the children's crumbs. Then he said to him: By this word, go; The devil has left your daughter. ”

Saint Mark 7: 28-29

In urgent need of a divine intervention, this woman approached Jesus. It was necessary and important that she get Jesus to listen to her and help her in that difficult time she was going through. His beloved daughter was being tormented by demons. Apart from Jesus, no one could do anything, so she made the decision to approach the only one who had the power to do the miracle she so much needed for her daughter.

The whole picture was adverse. The agony and hell she must have been living had no comparison. It required the grace of a man he did not know, he needed the favor of the one he had heard everywhere who did great miracles. Because it happens that when a woman decides to do something, she doesn't rest until she does it. How much more would a loving mother do and desperate to see her daughter being tormented and possessed by evil hosts. So he undertook his journey clad in an invisible but powerful armor: HIS FAITH. She knew that she could not get home again without receiving her daughter's release.

This woman was willing to give everything up, to humble herself and if it was necessary to insist. No word would make her give up. So he went to the Master and dared to ask him for the release of the torment his daughter was going through. Can you imagine your surprise when you receive the response from the Master? How many things would go through his mind at the time he was in front of the Master? But she wasn't going to miss her chance, she had to keep trying. God was testing her faith, wanted to see what she would be capable of, that she was willing to receive the miracle for her daughter. If he was able to leave his pride or his concepts aside to be able to receive the divine touch from him. And the answer that this woman gives him is so wise, but not only did he answer wisely, but he knew how to touch the fiber of Jesus' heart. Because for those of us who have a pet, in this case a dog, we know that we feed him from our hands. And that even of the crumbs they eat. Jesus himself had to testify of the faith so great that this woman had. She who came from a foreign land, who knew nothing about having a relationship with the Father, showed the world that God could approach and meet the need of those who with humble hearts approach him recognizing that he is the only one who can solve their problems.

How many times did we have to do to ourselves as the Syrophoenician woman!

Ask God to intervene in our lives or in the lives of people we love. How many times do we have to be moved by our circumstances to understand that he always takes care of us! The need led this woman to get what she wanted. She did not give up, nor was she indignant at Jesus' response, she stood firm, was determined not to return home without being sure that Jesus would do something for her.

And we, like this woman, must always need God. Not only when adverse moments come, but eternally. Because when we can recognize that without him our souls are not satiated or complete, we open the door for miracles "small and big" to happen in our lives every day.

I invite you to reflect on how great your need for God is and that you are willing to let him know that you need his presence and his intervention continually in his life.
