It is said that the needs of man are few, but that his desires have no end. Now, it seems that many do not know how to distinguish between needs and desires. What is the difference? The real needs are the essential things for life, such as food, clothing and a roof. On the other hand, desires are the things that one would like to have, but that are not indispensable for life.
In general, what do people want?
The desires of the people can vary enough from one place to another. In developing countries, many may be content to have enough money to buy a cell phone, a motorcycle or a small piece of land. In contrast, in richer countries, people may want to buy fancy clothes, a bigger house or a more expensive car. In any case, there is a real danger: getting caught up in materialism, wanting more and more things, whether we need them or not, whether we have the money to buy them or not.
