Christians still prayed and believed

2 And a man lame from birth was brought, whom they laid daily at the gate of the temple which is called Beautiful, to ask alms of those who entered the temple.

3 This, when he saw Peter and John going to enter the temple, he begged them to give him alms.

4 Peter, with John, fixing his eyes on him, said to him: Look at us.

5 Then he was attentive to them, hoping to receive something from them.

6 But Peter said: I have neither silver nor gold, but what I have I give you; in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, get up and walk.

7 And taking him by the right hand, he raised him up; and at the moment his feet and ankles were affirmed;

8 And jumping, he stood up and walked; and he entered with them into the temple, walking, and jumping, and praising God.

9 And all the people saw him walking and praising God.

10 And they recognized him that it was he who sat to beg alms at the door of the temple, the Beautiful; and they were filled with amazement and horror at what had happened to him.

The Bible tells us in this text that at this early time in the history of the church the Christian Jews still prayed in the temple.
These Christians made prayer a way of life, they had understood that prayer was a source of power, and they did everything unanimously.
It is to be imagined that when someone of his brothers went out to do the work of God, there was a remnant of brothers dedicated to prayer to ask for victory in everything they did to achieve victory.

While they were praying, John and Peter laid hands on the sick and preached the gospel. So, what we see in this story "A lame man is healed." Healing is by faith in the name of Jesus. According to the cultural scenario of the Biblical story, the name could not be separated from the person to whom it belonged, and the very name "Jesus Christ" means "savior or anointed."
In that order of ideas Peter is saying that it was the Messiah in all his fullness who healed man. Even more, the power of the miracle did not reside in Peter's faith, but in the faith that is for him.
It is important to note that in the Acts we find a historical account of the first conversions to Jesus Christ. Here the message of the apostles and the response of the people appear in detail. So the healing of the lame is a sample of the response of the people to the miracles of Jesus. There is also the promise about the gift of the holy spirit to all who believe, an experience of power that was normative in the early church. Our message today must be this same, in regard to the gift of the Holy Spirit and the life that flows from Him.
Anyone who believes the promises of God will receive whatever he asks. And in the name of Jesus Christ we will work miracles. This is a privileged power that Jesus has delegated to us, when we confront the retreating forces that sickness and satan seek to impose on humanity.
