Exploring Stockholm´s Old Town | Massive Gallery
I decided to go exploring Old Town, the supposedly most beautiful part inside Stockholm, or at least the part that resembles that of 100 years ago, where one can go and watch locals living among ancient buildings, old alleys, hidden spots and the best part, not crowded or full of loud tourists.
It can almost be looked as a little Oasis of old vibes within an island surrounded by the craziness, noise, stress and daily problems that modern Stockholm has in store. In a previous post I mention how Scandinavians are cold not very friendly - generally - but the exception to the rule presents here in Old town, where every store employee (or perhaps even the owner) receives you with a smile and avid to strike a small conversation, people on the street are friendly and yeah, it is a bit crowded by group of school kids on a field trip.
Overall, Old town in Stockholm is perhaps not as beautiful as other European Capitals I´ve visited in the past but it definitely is a great place to check out, especially because there is an unspoken magic that you don´t feel when walking anywhere else in the city, a sort of Homestead and coziness that modern Stockholm lacks.
I hope you enjoy this massive, incredibly long gallery as much as I enjoyed taking the pictures. It was a partly clouded sunny days, so I got lucky with some of the pics, in some others I didn´t so much. As far as I can tell, immersion into the vibe of the city won´t be that hard :)
Very nice! This looks like a beautiful town to visit! I love all of the awesome pictures! Having never been there it feels like you captured the essence of the city really well.
That´s exactly what I was aiming for man, to not just show around but to let people actually experience it. I know it+s not the same as going, but it resembles it a lot. I wish I could do videos :D
My dad loves his GoPro. He mostly just drives around with it on the top of the car :P
What a beautiful place to hang out, I love the stone roads, and small alley ways...
This was my favourite shot:
Also, was that a pub with the sign "Abandon all Hope" ... ? Did you go in?
Would you believe me if I told you that I was thinking of scratching this one from the post? I took around 150 pics "worthy" and ended up with 49 (iirc) and this was supposed to be scratched, I´m glad I didnt do it!
It´s a pirate-like themed bar and I went in but it was too early, it wasn´t even open to public so I was just able to glance around :(
I'm so glad you kept it in, it's truly a mesmerizing shot, and I use the steempeak.com interface, so the photo is super tall, a great effect. I use a computer as well, so I can appreciate photos so much better than if I had a phone.
Thanks for the tour, :) I start to feel recovered enough to feel the "thrill" and need to travel, I'm more of a Naturelover instead of cities though :) Hope you had a great time!
Me too, personally my favorite area of the world so far was Central America because it was pretty much 90% nature all the time wherever I went :)
Yes, give me a waterfall and a lush green forest over any human made structure, still some towns and cities (and their people) have their charms. But usually as a mix of see the city then go somewhere green :)
Great pics. I live vicariously through you all.
Any plans on coming to the states this year?
