Perhaps for many people this is a strange name or they have even read it for the first time, this drug turns human beings into people with different skin and psychological problems. If we have a more in-depth investigation they'll be able to find out more about her.

Obsession and leisure will lift your mind to the unknown, a moment of repentance will not be enough to feel your body.

"Krokodil"

Basically, the drug called "krokodil" started to take place because of a small amount of cocaine in Russia, taking into account this data I could investigate that it was arriving in the decades of 2000, many countries fear this because of its consumption that it could have worldwide, Colombia has recently been affected by "heroin of the poor" as this can cost three to five times less than cocaine combined with other chemicals to reach krokodil.

According to the International Journal of Drug Policy, its effects may be thrombosis and bleeding, large skin ulcers, phlebitis and gangrene in the area where the drug was injected, skin infections that reach the bones, loss of limbs, such as fingers, legs, arms, detachment of the skin in areas of dead tissue, ulceration of the veins, pneumonia, septicaemia, bursting of the arteries, and more.

Components and research.

The effects of this drug last two hours and are so harmful that its users are known as the' new zombies', and according to studies, its effects are so harmful to the human body that they can cause death after two years of continuous consumption. This drug is injectable and is made of phosphorus, codeine, thinner and alcohol, among other chemicals, and produces a gradual and rapid deterioration of the human body from the inside out,"explained Luis Guillermo Pardo, president of C-3.

The investigations also indicate that in several municipalities of Medellín they are already preparing for import and sale, which has caused an internal conflict, as many of the community leaders are concerned about this issue and expressed to the Corporation their insistence that the authorities prevent the entry and commercialization of the harmful drug. Even some of the' combos' who exercise their illegal territorial power in communes of the city don't want this drug to circulate in their territories,"said Pardo.

The Russian-born' krokodil' joins the new fashion of flavoured cocaine, which sadly makes a fury in the communes and exclusive sites of our city and our department. Already today they ask not coca but' give me a vanillita or a coquito' or' a strawberry', and a gram of this new popular presentation of cocaine is worth $10,000 and already has a high consumption ".

Synthesis of krokodil

Although krokodil and desomorphine refer to the same substance, produced at different times and for different purposes, both drugs do not have exactly the same pharmacological characteristics.

This is mainly explained by the scope of production of the two substances. While desomorphine was produced in scientific and controlled laboratories, krokodil is synthesized in contexts with very low levels of control.

The krokodil is usually produced in everyday and amateur environments, so that apart from the elements contained in the desomorphine, it also has a large number of impurities.

It is common for krokodil to contain codeine residues, as well as particles of other accidentally produced synthetic opioids.

Likewise, a large part of the krokodil produced also contains other drugs obtained as unwanted by-products of the reaction generated on excipients or accompanying substances of the product used as raw material (code-in tablets).

For example, analyses of codeine pills sold in Russia have shown that they may contain ingredients such as caffeine, acetaminophen or diphenhydramine.

This fact causes these substances to directly become part of the pharmacological composition of krokodil. Likewise, during the synthesis of these elements, other compounds can be generated such as tropicamide, which also becomes part of its chemical structure.

Because of all this, krokodil is a highly potent and harmful drug due to its initial characteristics concerning desamorphine. Likewise, it is usually even more harmful than this due to the low control of its synthesis, which motivates the incorporation of other toxic substances for the body.

Effects of krokodil

The consumption of krokodil produces high depressant effects on the central nervous system. In fact, several studies point out that this substance would be the one that succeeds in producing a higher depressant effect.

As a result of the depressant effect of the substance, krokodil can cause a large number of symptoms. The most typical ones are usually.

  • Slowed brain function.
  • Pulse and slow breathing.
  • Decreased blood pressure.
  • Bad concentration.
  • Confusion.
  • Speech coordination.
  • Visual alterations.
  • Pupil dilation.
  • Disorientation.
  • Difficulty urinating.
  • Addiction.
  • Sedation.
  • May cause gangrene and bleeding.

Prevention of krokodil consumption

Faced with the increase in consumption of this devastating drug, the National Center for Addiction Prevention and Control of the Ministry of Health has issued accurate information about Krokodil.

The aim of this prevention programme is to alarm about the effects and consequences of the substance. As well as preventing young people from consuming krokodil as a substance of abuse.

In this sense, and considering the high addictive potential of the drug, knowledge about the characteristics of krokodil and awareness of the consequences of its use, is a key element for the prevention of its use.

On the other hand, the Ministry of Health of the state of Veracruz has alerted the company through a communiqué dated April 8,2014, issued by the social coordination of said agency.

Due to the irreversible effects and damage caused by the consumption of krokodil, it is essential that society is informed about its characteristics.

For this reason, many countries in Europe have already initiated prevention programmes based on information and awareness of the devastating consequences of using them.

Treatment of krokodil addiction

due to the recent appearance of this drug, there are currently no interventions for detoxification and treatment of krokodil dependence.

In addition, considering the multiple physical consequences of the use of this substance, many of the therapeutic efforts are focused on the recovery and physical regeneration of patients.

Treating medical complications of krokodil consumption requires, in the vast majority of cases, extremely complex surgical interventions.

Likewise, these interventions usually conclude with serious results such as the removal or amputation of body regions.

On the other hand, many krokodil users present pneumonia, meningitis or periodontits during the few days after consumption, so that medical interventions also focus a large number of their efforts in the treatment of these complex pathologies caused by the drug.

sincerely there are a lot of images that I tried to ignore but I couldn't completely because of the real devastation that involves the consumption of it, see you in a next opportunity steemians.

Excellent post you have published @angelojcg. But, why in this world people create drugs like this one? If it´s so harmful, more than cocaine is, it should not exist.

You're absolutely right, but we do not know to what extent it can be so addictive and as far as you can get by mixing chemical substances with a small percentage of being able to continue living
