DARPA ( The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency) is an agency of the U.S. Department of Defense responsible for the development of emerging technologies for use by the military. Recently, DARPA has developed one kind of adhesive pads with gloves. Using this adhesive pads humans are able to climb vertical glass walls. They will be able to climb walls like geckos.

In the above photograph it was a successful demonstration of the gecko pad. You see in this demonstration, a man is climbing up a 7 meter-high vertical glass wall using adhesive gecko-inspired pads without using any other equipment. The climber only wore a safety belt to avoid accident if any happened, although this wasn’t required.

The main component of the gecko pad is super adhesive material. This adhesive material which was developed and successfully tested earlier in 2012. In the above you see another demonstration. In this demonstration a small patch of adhesive material attached to glass is holding 300 kg of weight. It's just amazing. Isn't it ?

Although, this outstanding technology is being built only for the US military, we can also hope that in the near future we will get a consumer version.

Who doesn’t want to have a little bit of Spiderman in them?
