Breaking News: The Black Hole (Shadow) Has Finally Been Photographed!
Thank the Event Horizon Telescope (EHT), the scientists from around the world (200 researchers) and everyone involved, we now know what a black hole in space looks like!
But first, watch this video.
What is the EHT?
I can't find when this project was initially created and announced but there's some BBC news article about it back in January 2016. The EHT was about a decade old in 2017 according to a Gizmodo article before it started observing the center of M87 (the supermassive black hole we now have a picture of) in Sagittarius A (the space location) in April 2017.
Twitter is all gaga over the first black hole picture released a few hours ago. Why? Well it's something that has never been photographed before so imagine what the science community must feel right now.
I mean, look at that!

What we're seeing in the picture is actually just the shadow of a black hole. It can't be photographed except by seeing the light being pulled into it. Haha.
On Twitter some people are even comparing it to the Eye of Sauron... That's kinda funny because it's just the color that's the same. The black hole is not made of fire, it's essentially "eating fire". 😂
What is a black hole and why did EHT photograph it?
Find out more about black holes in this video.
If you have the time, you can also watch this video on EHT's presentations and Q & A by four people who are part of the project. This was uploaded about a week ago.
What Do I Think About This News?
I actually never heard of any news about this plan and now momentous event. I might have seen some things about black holes but never knew about any announcement/news at all. Somehow I was seeing stuff online about black holes back in 2016 but nothing about photographing it. I believe there were several EHT updates too that I never heard of online. We haven't been watching TV for years so all my news sources are online and in my social media networks. hahaha.
Why is this news to me now? Because I felt a connection to the black hole about 2 years ago. No I'm not like connected connected, I just feel bad about if someone has the same reputation. Lol. I mean if a person can be a figurative black hole then they must be terrible, right? Oh but no, they are the result of the harsh environment and the kind of upbringing they had.
I even did some art related to what it's like to be a so-called black hole. Back then I was feeling really terrible that I had to make some art about it. No, don't worry nobody has ever called me that because I'm such a nice person! 😂
It's just sad my phone got stolen and I've never been able to post the rest of it. Oh well. Come to think of it... I made the art on January 3, 2017, after there were some news/update on the project back in Dec 2016. Like the black hole/human connection thought popped out of nowhere. Like I said, I never read, heard or seen anything about any news/announcement at all. Hmmm, what a coincidence? I must really be psychic eh? Hahahaha.
But don't fret, it's not all bad news from black holes. In April 2017 I saw an article about stars getting formed inside black holes! Amazing right?
Anyway, Perimeter Institute has two free downloadable posters to commemorate this scientific breakthrough!
Isn't this so interesting? What do you think about this bit of news?
XOXO,

What I find amazing is mathematicians and astrophysicists predicted the existence of black holes mathematically, long before we actually saw one. Thanks for the very interesting post @artgirl.
Yes indeed. Einstein is amazing. I think because he's a vegetarian or does meditation that's why he's able to know things we don't. Don't quote me on it though. I may have read too many things out there. Hahaha. You're welcome!

What's fascinating to me is that Black Holes were theorized, without any ability to measure them or "see" them (not that they can be seen, of course). For me, that supports many of the implications of the supernatural (for example) as something real that we simply don't yet have the tools to measure or observe... but in another 50 years? Who knows what we'll be able to see that is merely an idea at this time!
Bright Blessings!
Oh yes indeed. I think it has to do with some scientists doing meditation... Or something. 😅

I found it a bit underwhelming haha.
Unrelated I remember you use to do some topic based posts and thought you might want to keep and eye on oracle-d tasks as they are an opportunity https://steemit.com/steemalliance/@oracle-d/steem-alliance-structure-proposals-comparison-contest-earn-rewards
Ehehe. Well I understand it can be underwhelming indeed if it's not really something you can relate to. Hehe.
Oh hey thanks i will check on that.

I don't know what to feel about this news but it's kind of exciting to know another breakthrough in science. This shows how evolving and how science continuously develops. We can only talk about then but now we can see it.
If people are overwhelmed or underwhelmed, I am just "whelmed" lol!
I have not come across the black hole in reference to a person's character. It sounds about right though.
Hehehe, at least now you know. 😊
