Soil Creep - Evidence Of Mass Movement Of Neighbors Yard
It’s pretty obvious that the ground is creeping here as the bottom fence lateral post is becoming engulfed by the Earth.
This neighbor had built this house about 10 or more years ago.. before it was a natural forest hilltop with lots of trees and vegetation. Plants obviously help with drainage issues, having roots as helping foundations and slowing rushing, scouring water.
Terraforming the land and loosening it up from compaction will obviously make the ground more susceptible to mass wasting events.
But this is just one of those things you can’t stop. I believe the grade of the slope, combined with constant precipitation, and gravity, cause the ground to move slowly downward.
Other types of mass movements.
A lot of times, when trees happen to be caught on these creeping slopes.. they will bend at their trunk as the slope moves down, the trees bend toward the Sun.
Like this.. 
Big sign that the slope is moving. Slowly... but moving. Education is nice!
