The beginning of science can be traced back to between 3500 to 3000 B.C.E in ancient Egypt and Mesopotamia. It has contributed in various fields such as astronomy, philosophy, medicine and mathematics. Researches has been conducted on different fields of science, in academic and research institutions as well as companies and government agencies.
So many discoveries have been made in science with great minds like Aristotle, Socrates, Copernicus, Kepler, Galileo, Newton, Faraday and Einstein, they inspired new paradigms and one can now easily say that he or she has a vivid knowledge concerning the laws of nature. What we know as space, time, mass, and energy today would go on to provide the foundation for many of the revolutionary ideas formulated during the next half-century.

The seeds for the Theory of General Relativity and Quantum Mechanics. When Einstein finalized the Theory of General Relativity, it disproved a lot of Newton’s work. He came up with more accurate picture of what was actually going on. There is a chance that even the Theory of General Relativity and our take on Evolution will one day be viewed as being as elementary like that of Newton’s. Most of the time, the uncertainty of the scientific method is a strength. That’s how we get to know what we don’t know before.

Modern science is divided into three major branches that consist of the natural sciences which study nature in the broadest sense, the social sciences which study individuals and societies and the formal sciences i.e. mathematics, computer science and logic which study abstract concept. The field of engineering and medicine are regarded as applied sciences. On formal sciences there is actually a disagreement on whether it actually constitute a science as they do not rely on empirical evidence. In 2006 an induced pluripotent stem cells were developed, this allows adult cells to b transformed into stem cells capable of giving rise to any cell type found in the body. Gravitational waves, predicted by general relativity a century before, were first observed in 2015.

Researchers on science have their own self-interests to look out for, and sometimes, even if they don’t, there are so many variables that can sway an observation one way or another that a single study on its own is a very loose metric to base a worldview on. An experiment in a laboratory will never fully be able to recreate the conditions that arise in the complex and dynamic systems of the world. Reality is far messier than anything we can design. Many experiments are either conducted in closed systems that don’t reflect the world or they rely on faulty models of complex phenomenon. Much of academia still underestimates how slight differences in initial conditions can lead to massive deviations in outcome.
Science is a self-correcting process that has given us abilities that would have been treated like something out of a science-fiction movie only a few decades ago. The future we live in today is one that, throughout history, would have been inconceivable. Just like Einstein disproved some of Newton’s works, some of the laws and theories that we believe to be true could very well be proven quite wrong in the future. Therefore, we cannot say here that we have arrived at end of the road of discovery.

Scientific method is one of the most powerful tools humankind has ever invented. It has directly and indirectly been responsible for guiding the advances we have seen in technology, and it has arguably saved more lives than any other human mechanism to date. This method can be very useful if we understand and comprehend every bit of it because that is the only way we can get the actual result we want in order to solve our problem. It’s very obvious we cannot do without science so it’s imperative we embrace it because it has come to stay.
