Bizzare organisms - no two are alike

As many of you already discovered, nature can be totally different, if we look at her without colors... All those nature lovers like me already know what is shown in the photo below.

But for those who don't, I can tell you that what you see is a kind of lichen. Not many people know what lichens are? Do you? I read about it on the web, and general definition is, that lichens are a complex life form which is a symbiotic partnership of two separate organisms - a fungus and an alga.

They live for a long time and grow relatively slowly. As many botanists agree, that most of their reproduction is vegetative - which means, that when a piece of existing lichen break off and fall away, they usually begin a new growth nearby.

Ok, enough science for today. Hope I'll get you interested enough so you will browse a bit on the web and read a bit more about it.
