The Trump government will not hinder the development of artificial intelligence in the United States, said a top official on Thursday, who acknowledged that this growing technology will replace some jobs.

At a White House summit whose participants include companies such as Google Alphabet, Facebook and Amazon.com, technology policy advisor Michael Kratsios said President Donald Trump's administration did not want to dictate "what was researched and developed."

"As much as possible, we will allow scientists and technology experts to be free to develop their next great creation here in the United States," he said, according to a copy of his speech provided by the White House.

Artificial intelligence and deep machine learning raises ethical concerns about control, privacy, cyber security, and the future of employment, as expressed by various company representatives and experts.

Kratsios admits to "a certain degree, the loss of employment is inevitable."

The White House, which previously crossed with scientists, on issues such as climate change, conservation and budget cuts, said it would create a new committee for Artificial Intelligence.

The committee will be comprised of the most senior research and development officials across the board of the US government, tasked with developing research and development priorities and better coordination with federal government investments.

"We can not just be passive. To realize the full potential of Artificial Intelligence for Americans, this effort will require joint efforts by industry, academia and government, "Kratsios said.

"In the private sector, we will not dictate what can be researched and developed. Instead we will offer resources and freedom to explore, "he said.

CEO of Intel Corp. Brian Krzanich, who attended the summit, wrote in a blog post that "without his own Artificial Intelligence strategy, world technology leaders are at risk of lagging behind."

Artificial intelligence has been used in a number of fields.

For example, the National Institute of Health is exploring ways of utilizing machine learning to improve cancer detection and treatment, while the General Services Administration uses Artificial Intelligence to reduce the need for federal auditors, the White House said.

More than 30 large companies attended the meeting including officials representing Ford, Boeing, Mastercard, and Microsoft.

The Pentagon and various government agencies took part, along with senior White House officials including Jared Kushner and Andrew Bremberg, who heads the Domestic Policy Council.
