Brain-Brain communication?

in #science5 years ago

Theories of Social Cognition suggest that our thinking is very much influenced by others. Thoughts propagate throughout social networks, and one may, in fact, often be influenced by people who one has never met, a friend of a friend of a friend.

An argument can even be made that we principally learn and adopt new concepts by doing and emulation, and not by thinking per se.

A group of expert advisers is often referred to as a Brain Trust – a space of thought that a leader may tap into for advice and counsel, a virtual third hemisphere.

New developments in Brain-Computer Interface technology is enabling a potentially literal version of this concept, enabling multiple minds to bridge their impressions and transmit this to a 3rd party.

It's very low bandwidth, and the signals transmitted are somewhat vague, but BrainNet heralds the beginning of very direct mental collaboration between humans, or perhaps even humans and non-human animals.
