Computers based on quantum mechanics chromatically come into the sight of the scientists and technology performers who dream about shifting the paradigm of information processing and problem solving. This ancient-day science is based on the laws of quantum mechanics and possesses the ability to tap the unparalleled power of computation following a route where only those problems would be solved which could not be tackled by standard computers.

The quantum bit (an acronym for qubit) is the base unit of quantum information, which is at the core of quantum computing. Classical bits unlike quantum bits which can’t be in an exact state of 0 or 1 only, the qubits on the other hand may exist in both the states 0 and 1 at a time. This particular feature makes it possible to perform a tremendous number of operations simultaneously, the solution of which grows exponentially with the number of the subtasks, hence the entire process becomes tremendously quick.

There are a lot of applications of a quantum computing in a field of cryptography and cybersecurity, and probably it is one of the most exciting. While quantum computers lead to new encryption methods, they also unveil a looming threat to data security of traditional encryption methods. While at the same time, they may create a great scope to elaborate on the creation of the new encoding methods that are quantum resistant protecting the important information in the digital era.

Adding to this, we are jumping on the bandwagon of quantum computing by making it part of an epochal set up that can change the world of drug discovery, materials science, and optimization problems. The quantum algorithms have the ability to reproduce real time situations at the molecular level with the highest level of accuracy and speeding the work towards the discovery of new drugs and new materials which could become key elements for the medical and technological Industries. Along with quantum computers, these problems can be also solved like route planning and resource distribution by them both quickly and accurately.

Despite the huge prospects of quantum computing, there are considerable engineering issues that need to be husseled. Creation, use, and preservation of reliability of qubits, controlling of quantum states and high precision of measurements which are crucial steps for the development of QPT are the key challenges to be solved by QPT scientists. Nevertheless, lately the field advanced tremendously with regard to quantum hardware, error correction techniques, and algorithm development, on which the hope of the coming era of the real quantum computing rest.

In the end, the ‘quantum computing’ concept is much more than the new way of ‘computation’ and ‘solving’ problems. It provides a brand new perspective on how to innovate and discover. While researchers engage in experiments that reach new quantum mechanics and engineering horizons, the field of quantum computing is insatiable, and thus more computing power is released, which brings closer the time when sophisticated scientific advancements will be achievable.
