Science Blogging #3: A MUSEUM VISIT
A museum is a place where everything is related to art, science, history, geography etc. and is a place for studies. It is a place of great interest. It is highly informative and educative. A visit to the museum is an education in itself. There are a number of museums here in our country, Philippines. I am currently studying in Mindanao State University Iligan Institute Technology, Iligan City, Philippines wherein I'll be sharing to you our Natural Science Museum here.
Welcome to MSU-IIT'S Natural Science Museum. Tara! Let's explore!
First on the list, Kingdom Animalia!!
The Animals. There are over 9 million species of animals found on Earth. Animals are eukaryotic, multicellular organisms that form the biological kingdom Animalia. With few exceptions, animals are motile, heterotrophic, reproduce sexually, and their embryonic development includes a blastula stage.
The different kinds of animals we usually found on land and their relative families. Almost all the displays here were endemic here in the Philippines.
INSECTA or INSECTS
-are by far the largest group of hexapod invertebrates within the arthropod phylum. Definitions and circumscriptions vary; in one approach insects comprise a class within the Phylum Arthropoda.
Beetles are a group of insects that form the order Coleoptera, in the superorder Endopterygota. Their front pair of wings is hardened into wing-cases, elytra, distinguishing them from most other insects.
The Hemiptera or true bugs are an order of insects comprising some 50,000 to 80,000 species of groups such as the cicadas, aphids, planthoppers, leafhoppers, and shield bugs
Lepidoptera is an order of insects that includes butterflies and moths. About 180,000 species of the Lepidoptera are described, in 126 families and 46 superfamilies, 10% of the total described species of living organisms.
Insects will always be close to my heart, they gave me the cool and refreshing feeling because of their vibrant colors. Love love!
MAMMALIA
Mammals are vertebrate animals which feed their young on milk produced by mammary glands. All have hair at some point in their lives, even if they have only a few (like most whales).
Some of our samples here of animals is our Philippine tarsier, Philippine monkey, Philippine tree squirrel, Philippine Pygmy squirrel, and Black Rat.
They are so still so many interesting species that I really need to see here in the Philippines. They are all unique and cool.
BIRDS
Birds (Aves) are a group of endothermic vertebrates, characterised by feathers, toothless beaked jaws, the laying of hard-shelled eggs, a high metabolic rate, a four-chambered heart, and a strong yet lightweight skeleton.
Columbiform, (order Columbiformes), any member of the group of birds that contains the pigeons, doves, dodoes, and solitaires.
Bucerotiformes is an order that contains the hornbills, hoopoe and wood hoopoes.
The Accipitriformes are an order that includes most of the diurnal birds of prey: hawks, eagles, vultures, and many others, about 225 species in all.
That feeling when you just thought some of them were just the same bur are actually different and just relative to each other. Wow!
REPTILIA
Reptiles comprising tetrapod animals like turtles, crocodilians, snakes, amphisbaenians, lizards , tuatara, and their extinct relatives.
When I saw them, the aura was as scary and terror as you see them in person or even in just televisions or what. I mean, the way they preserve these reptiles in the display were terrifyingly good. But I hope I get to see more of them soon. I want to see more big ones. Hahaha!
AMPHIBIA
This animal class includes toads and frogs, salamanders and newts, and caecilians.
Amphibians are animals that live part of their lives in water and part on land.
This is one of my not really hatest but I just dont like their slimy skin. It is just so weird to touch since I already dissected many frogs before. Still I just dont like it. Hahaha! But I love how they change skin especially the snakes and I dont know why. Hahahaha!
And where down to our last display which is my favorite from the rest, meet the Indian Blue Peafowl. Still, belongs from the group of Birds / Aves.
I just love this large brightly colored peacock. Though they far often seen in the ground than the air, its feathers will just struck you the moment you see it. It is pretty amazing!!
Our museum is not that really big and they are still working to make and put some more species on it. But I still can say, ARTIST is our God for creating sucj creatures with the features and characteristics! Yes! All praise to Him!
Oh, thank you for visiting with me here. Til next science blog Steemians!
