Who determines the sex of the baby? The man or the woman?

In Nigeria where the culture has made having male children seem more important than having female children, I have seen both in the movies and in reality men get married to a second wife after their first wife has given birth to 5 female children or more and no male child. I have come to realise that the decision for some men to take a second wife after their first wife couldn't give them a male child is a function of lack of knowledge!

Science has proven that the man determines the sex of the baby. The chromosome of the sperm cell which is carried by the man is the XY chromosome.

This further shows that the man carries the Y chromosome and the presence or absence of the Y chromosome in the sperm cell that fertilizes the egg determines the sex of the baby. The sex of the baby is determined at conception, if the Y chromosome in the sperm cell goes first and fertilizes the egg cells which carries only the X chromosome then the baby will be male(XY). If the X chromosome in the sperm cell goes first and fertilizes the egg which carries only the X chromosome, then the baby will be female(XX)
Ignorance like they say "does not exempt anyone from the effect of the rule". So save yourself the stress of getting so many wives because so many wives does not determine the sex of the baby!
