Surgeons managed to re-transplant a person's tissues after the patient began rejecting donor material seven years after the first operation.

On November 30, 2017, doctors removed his uninfected face tissues, then the patient was injected into an artificial coma. The operation was held in mid-January 2018, it lasted almost all day. Officials from the French health system said:
