Selfies Have Claimed Over 250 Life In The Past 6 Years
Two hundred fifty-nine people from around the world have died in the past six years while taking selfies. This is the conclusion that a study performed by experts from the All India Institute of Medical Science in New Delhi.

The most common cause of “death by selfie” was drowning, followed by accidents in various different vehicles, including cars, bicycles and similar. And the bronze has been claimed by falls from high places. The most shocking and least shocking fact at the same time was that eighty-five percent of those who died were between the ages of ten and thirty years old. Yes, even then year olds died because they wanted to take a stupid selfie. It is now clear that deaths connected to selfies are a concern of public safety.
The biggest problem is that people take unnecessary risks just to get that perfect selfie. And often the deaths could’ve been easily prevented. Plus there is a good chance that the amounts of selfie connected deaths is much higher than we think just because the authorities don’t have to necessarily find evidence the death is connected to taking a selfie.
There is no surprise that some countries are trying to take steps to make their citizens more careful. For example, Russia has started a campaign Safe Selfie” three years ago with a slogan “Even a million “likes” on social media are worth your life and well-being. And some people are saying that selfies should be banned near certain potentially dangerous areas – near water, on top of tall buildings but the question is how exactly would such bans be enforced.
