The Russian Space Agency Has Problem And It Blames SpaceX
The Russian space agency Roskosmos has functioned as the “international space courier” for years – bringing both equipment and astronauts for NASA. But now it seems to be re-evaluating its future
The Bloomberg magazine has recently said that they are mainly blaming Elon Musk’s company SpaceX for their current troubles. Further, it is in trouble because of international sanctions and the weak currency. A reminder – it is SpaceX that should bring four NASA astronauts to the International Space Station on board of their re-usable spaceship Dragon 2.
A NASA administrator William Gerstenmaier siad that Roskosmos is obviously concerned with this development.
They are obviously concerned. They share some of the same problems we do – there’s a finite amount in the budget in our countries and space flight is part of the discretionary budget.
- William Gerstenmaier
Even when these problems are occuring Gertenmaier hopes that the cooperation between the two countries – that started back in the seventies – will continue with no regard to the changes in the industry.
