In part 1 we learned that the 9/11 Commission Report states, At 09:58:59, the South Tower collapsed in ten seconds. The building collapsed into itself, causing a ferocious windstorm and creating a massive debris cloud.

We also learned that the August 2002 fact sheet (Answers to Frequently Asked Questions) by NIST states, NIST estimated the elapsed times for the first exterior panels to strike the ground after the collapse initiated in each of the towers to be approximately 11 seconds for WTC1 and approximately 9 seconds for WTC2.

For the purpose of this study a value of 10 seconds will be assigned to the official story.

Seismic Data

The seismology group at the Lamont-Doherty Earth Obsrvatory, Columbia University recorded the following information based on seismic waves recorded at Palisades New York. (source)

Impact 1 at North Tower 08:46:26 Magnitude (equivalent seismic) 0.9 Duration 12 seconds.

Impact 2 at South Tower 09:02:54 Magnitude (equivalent seismic) 0.7 Duration 6 seconds.

Collapse 1, South Tower 09:59:04 Magnitude (equivalent seismic) 2.1 Duration 10 seconds.

Collapse 2, North Tower 10:28:31 Magnitude (equivalent seismic) 2.3 Duration 8 seconds.

So what does this data mean? Well given that we don't know the exact nature of what caused the towers to collapse it would be wrong to interpret any more than the data suggests a collapse time in the region of free fall speed which we determined in part 1 to be 9.22 secs for WTC1.

In part 1 we began to analyse the official 'pancake' collapse theory which purports that one floor fails and brings down the floor beneath all the way down. Let's look at this in a little more detail.

We know that WTC1 was damaged around the 80th floor. The problem here with the 'pancake' theory is that the 30 or so floors above the damaged area must also have pancaked and been pulverised as there was no evidence of 30 floors being left standing after the building came down, the same goes for WTC2.

The visual evidence left after the dust had settled showed no blocks of floors remaining intact at all from either WTC1 or WTC2. In fact there were no identifiable floors remaining. Every floor of both buildings had disappeared.

Reports from the aftermath reveal that only steel and dust remained after the 'collapse'. Consider the below photograph (Figure 7) showing the aftermath of a building in Pakistan which pancaked after an earthquake.

Ask yourself if you saw anything remotely like this on 9/11. The below photograph (Figure 8) taken before noon on the day of the event shows WTC6 standing 8 stories tall in the background. The 8 story building towers over the debris of WTC1 and WTC2. So where are the remains of WTC1 and WTC2?

Figure 8 clearly shows that the vast majority of material consisting both WTC1 and WTC2 has been pulverised. The problem here with the official 'pancake' theory lies in the fact that if enough kinetic energy existed to pulverise the building in this manner there could not be both pancaking and pulverisation. We learned in part 1 that in order for WTC1 to reach the ground at close to free fall speed there would have to be a removal of resistance somehow. It is this resistance that provides the necessary force for pulverisation to occur.

Energy can only be spent once. If the potential energy is spent to pulverise a floor upward and outward, it cannot be spent again to accelerate the building downward. In order to have pancaking, a sufficient downward force is required to trigger the failure of the next floor. Dr Judy Wood.

We learned that the floors would have to become detached before the floor above made contact in order to not slow down the rate of collapse to achieve near free fall speed as was observed. In other words the material would have to detach and fall before the collapse wave. Take a look at figure 9 below. Here we can see WTC2 during it's destruction. There is very little to no material falling ahead of the collapse wave.

We can see here in figure 10 below that an enormous amount of material is being ejected both outwards and indeed upwards. So how could the pulverised material create enough downforce to create the pancake effect? Truth is...it couldn't. Those tiny particles with large surface area to mass ratios would simply hang in the air, sometimes for days on end.

It is becoming clear that in order to put the entirity of WTC1 and WTC2 on the ground in around 10 seconds, some kind of controlled, sequenced detonation must have occurred.

As we watched, the entire building was essentially turning to dust. Consider almost at random, any middle to lower floor - the 40th for example. The 40th floor needs to start moving before any of the higher floors have 'free fallen' to its point. But why would it start moving? There was no fire there to weaken it. And if anything, there was an ever decreasing load on it as the floors above it were turning to dust. Dr Judy Wood.

What about the 8 seconds of seismic data recorded as WTC1 was destroyed? How come the ground only rumbled for 8 seconds when the building should have taken longer than that to hit the ground? The answer to this is surprisingly simple. Most of the building did not hit the ground. It was left in the air.

In short, both explanations given by the 9/11 Commission report and NIST are not physically possible.
