New efficient solar power for day and nightsteemCreated with Sketch.

You may not be aware that our current silicone solar panels are only getting a portion of the sun's energy (that we know of).
This is due to the fact that it only captures the energy from the colour spectrum violet to red and not the others.

And we know of a few other spectrums, and there may even be more we are NOT aware of.

So how are these propeller heads doing this? Well let's just say they are changing things somewhat in order to hopefully double that energy harnessing to around 60%.

By capturing the sun's heat energy rather than light spectrums through black carbon nanotubes, which can get to around 1000 degrees Celsius, they are then able to re-transfer that heat energy back into light (within the spectrums of light that can be captured) which would then follow the same current solar energy process we use, but now with the spectrums of light energy incorporated as well.

They are still in the development of this energy capturing technology, and should have workable models in 10 to 15 years time.

For now it is only working in a vacuum and hopefully all the initial headaches from the tech can quickly be sorted out.

The reason why this could be used at night as well is because the initial energy that is being created is heat energy. This is a lot easier to store than it is to store electricity so when the energy is needed, they can take that heat energy, concert it back into light and use to create electricity again.

I'm all I think it's a very interesting concept and if it is as successful as they suggest it could be, it would be brilliant in places where sun is abundant, such is South Africa.

Cheap energy is in serious need. Especially when you think of how parastatals have destroyed current options and making their tax paying citizens pay for their enept ways.

Go for it prop heads! We need your work working ASAP!

Very cool! I installed a solar geyser years ago and it’s been great since we get mad sun here, my only regret is not setting it up on the entire house too so we can get off this this bladdy Eskimo Grid can’t keep giving guptas all our money lol

Haha! Yes we did the same and loved it. We'll until we used the water and we had no sun to warm it again. So we added an element with electricity too, just in case
Now we're on a farm and wish we had done it here too. Electricity costs kill us, and Eskom is wanting us poor tax payers to pay for their corruption again. Banana Republic these days! Drives me nuts.
Thanks for visiting

yes, bananas are to be eaten, not be our rulers!
