Security Alert: Coinmama has been breached

This morning as I was using my PC, a pop-up from Dashlane suddenly displayed on my screen. The pop-up was about a security alert for one of the reputed crypto-buying website, coinmama [dot] com, stating that a data breach from Saturday, Feb 16, 2019 has been reported.

The breach included usernames, passwords and emails, compromising all the other [certain] accounts too. Meaning this breach doesn’t only affect just your Coinmama account but all the other accounts that have used similar or exact password as Coinmama’s account.

So, soon as I was alerted about the breach, I took an action, used the Dashlane’s “one click auto-change password” feature to change the passwords for the Coinmama and all the other accounts that reused the exact password.

I suggest every Steemians to go to Coinmama, change the password and enable 2FA right away. Also, if you are aware of reusing the same compromised passwords in other websites, please change those passwords too. Or, even if you are not, you can use a password manager app like Dashlane to check the compromised accounts and let it automatically change the passwords for you.

I’ve been using Dashlane for about a year or so. Honestly, it has saved my a** from multiple breaches, alerting right on time before any further damage is done. We happen to be living in a time where the impenetrable security system is boasted and yet breaches are happening just like every another Sunday. And to make it worse, the hackers are “next level” ones in the crypto-verse. So, it’s always best to protect and monitor your digital presence with a guard like Dashlane. Can’t risk the dearly COINS!!!
