How Australia is ruining your security

Would you be willing to hand your phone code and password over to a government agent if asked? How would you feel about everything on you phone and computer being monitored regardless?

Australia plans to take Government Surveillance to the next level, with an aggressive encryption bill that potentially compromises people's security by allowing the govt to put back doors into devices.

This isn't just problematic for Australians, as Australia is part of the "5 eyes", meaning that now the USA, Canada, Great Britain, and NZ will all have access to this information also.

I talk to Cryptography expert Perry Metzger, and popular cryptography podcaster Patrick Gray about what is happening in Australia right now.

Amazing how authority doesn't seem to understand the golden rule (treat others as you would yourself). If it's malware and we don't want it ourselves, then there's never justification for placing malware on anyone else's devices. If it's wrong for one person to do it, it's wrong for everyone. All this legal BS just shows how incredibly clueless politicians, regulators, judges and lawyers are. The bottom line though is that everyone must be responsible for their own security. The state will try to overstep that boundary and insist on being responsible for your security. When you allow that, you've become a slave.

BTW, Patrick's statement that government is made of "necessary idiots" is only temporary. Once DApp's begin to take over, direct presentation will be able to govern and make obsolete the concept of "representation". Fortunately Patrick lives in one of the few locations where government hasn't turned evil (yet). He's incredibly naive if he thinks it can stay that way.
