They Say the Beginning is Always Hardest

Lots of people tend to give significance to “new dates”, or new beginnings like New Year.

Suddenly it seems as if everything will change. Personally, I do not belong to that crowd. That is not to say that two otherwise imaginary relevance dates never had any meaning to me. Contrarily, both New Year and Valentine’s Day have always been two of the most important days in my schedule every year.

But that was most likely influenced by an extensive activity in catering and hospitality in a past long gone by. The two best earning days of the year for each waiter, that good that especially on Valentine’s Day I would often revert to waiting rather than bar tending. Sue me but people spending on hallmark events deserve nothing better than a professional tip hunter making the evening slightly more expensive to them even.

Other than that... I belong to this category of people. Those who believe both following memes.

Maybe, if one were to believe in destiny, maybe it wasn’t such a big surprise but rather “Grinch Karma” when this new year” started as it did for me. At least after some quiet days, when the week from Hell that wasn’t but became happened.

Luckily, some perspective allowed me to refocus and I got things done which the Internet would have not let me do.

Things like... sleep.
Things like... paint my office corner.
Things like... sleep even more.
Things like... paint the cooking area.
Things like... sleep yet a little more.

And... things like cursing the retarded local telecommunications laws.

Because, apparently in 2019 it is still totally normal to experience Internet blackouts because of (ultra local) religious festivals.

That 24 hours of disconnection which followed upon almost a whole day without electricity because the local monopolist which charge us some of the most expensive electricity rates in the world had disconnected this house rather than the neighbors house, where payment arrears had led to the electricians visit.

Leading to no electricity, with temperatures above 30 degrees (Celsius) until 23:30 at night. Which followed upon two days of indigestion with fever as well, causing all that sleeping.
