Improve your self-esteem in four ways

in #selfesteem6 years ago

Self-esteem or our overall subjective sense of our worth as individuals are critical to our growth and development. Self-esteem varies per individual; it also changes over time. Factors such as one’s upbringing, interaction with others, and mental health are among those that can determine if someone has high or low self-esteem. Nevertheless, self-esteem is a work in progress, and it is up to us to take care of how we view ourselves. Here are four ways to improve your self-esteem:

Recognize that negative voice

Each of us has our personal critic lying in our minds and ready to scrutinize our every move. Recognize the presence of such a critic. Recognize the source of such a negative voice. Uproot it slowly but surely until it has become easy to silence and focus on making ourselves better.

Help others

Do something for someone because it is one of the best ways that we can recognize our capacity to make things better for others. It can also reinforce the fact that helping others also allow us to be more proactive in helping ourselves. It’s a win-win cycle.

Be optimistically realistic

Thinking positive is a good thing, but thinking positive with recognition or anticipation of what can go wrong is better. It allows us to prepare, adjust, plan, and try better. When failure comes, it will certainly not put a dent on our self-esteem because we’ve got the next move covered.

Celebrate success then work again

Take time to celebrate success. However, don’t let it linger more than it should be. Instead, use it to propel more work that can lead to more learnings, more experiences, and eventually, more successes.

We hope you find these helpful for your self-esteem and other important and pressing endeavors in your life.
