SevenDaysOutside Challenge - #StatueFriday – Statues
Today is #StatueFriday for the #sevendaysoutside challenge by the lovely @erikah
Atlants - this sculptural motive is typical for Lviv buildings of the age of historicism, less so for secession. The name of the hero of ancient Greek myths in architecture is called the person's figure, which is used instead of the support. Often, the Atlantean only "gives" that holds the building, in fact, performing a purely decorative role.
The mythical character of Atlanta participated in the struggle of the Titans against Zeus, for which he was punished: he had to support the sky forever.
On the facade of the house on the street Gogol, 10 we notice the figures of the guards, clad in armor with the lionesses depicted on them at the heart. Atlanta is placed symmetrically, the balconies support no shoulder, as in most cases, but bear the burden on the head. The composition is exactly repeated a little further, on the facade of the same building (Gogol, 8). Thus, four stone guardians will keep the inhabitants calm on both sides of the window and door.
Every morning I pass by these statues. When he took a photo, he felt a piercing look through the camera's screen. You just look at this face. It seems like he looks good and wants to say something.
